Layers Of Hope, Quilting 911

Layers Of Hope, Quilting 911 This site is dedicated to those unseen men and women, the real first responder heroes on scene, those who answer their calls, '911 What Are You Reporting?'

This site began as the need for quilts to comfort the 911 operators during Aurora Colorado's tragic shooting, I saw a need and quilters all over answered the call. We made quilts for family members, police and fire and we didn't stop. As a retired 911 telecommunications operator and trainer, I have been making quilts for those in need since Hurricane Rita and Katrina, this is our new name!

I know, I know, I've been quiet for a long time. Grief does strange things to ones brain. My grands Aly and Jony never fail to surprise me, this is our yearly Christmas picture at church.I am doing the best I can. I have traveled a lot this year visiting family, volunteering, attending a Christian womens camp. I have also taken on 4 part-time jobs to try to pay my bills and keep my head above water. Not only loosing my husbands income which was significant, but everything going up and up in cost, I know you all feel that squeeze, my credit cards have taken a hit. My grands have encouraged me to start quilting again at their place.. maybe after the first of the year I'll take them up on it. If I can remember how...lol.
I want to wish you all a very blessed holiday season and bountiful 2024.

I am broken hearted to let you all know that the man behind Layers of Hope, Quilting 911, who loved me unconditionally for 41years, left my arms and entered into the arms of Jesus on December 20th. I was beyond blessed to be his caregiver for the past months when he lost the use of his arms and legs because no matter what cancer threw at him, that beautiful smile never left his face.

I'm not ready yet. Not ready to say good-bye to this smile the hugs, his love for me, our children and grandchildren and Jesus. Today, Hospice will come out. Please say prayers for our family. He was the man behind Layers of Hope and he never said no to supporting me in anyway I needed. He spent many hours driving quilts to recipients, packing up quilts, getting van seats in and out of our old van for deliveries to places like Oso, Okanogan Valley and the financial support he provided made this ministry possible.
Forty One years with this man and his amazing love, patience and the best hugs ever. Please say a prayer for us. Thank you all for being amazing ministry partners in quilting. I am truly lost right now.

I get busy, I apologize to any of you that may have sent me an email and it went unanswered, I just cleared out over300 spam mails out of my email for this page and hopefully I didn't miss any of yours!

I am starting slowly to take care of me, I cannot possibly help anyone else with this exhaustion I have been going through, but I appreciate all your support and kindness.

I have been horrible at updating my page, but Jerry's cancer decided to metastasize in his brain and I have been extremely busy with caregiving duties.
I was in storage today and found 2 boxes of fabric and trust me, I wanted to cart it home and quilt.
Jerry just finished whole brain radiation and now we wait for it to do its job.
I am doing my best to hold on but the past 6 days the waterflow has fell.
Saturday will mark our 41st wedding anniversary. No.plans now, will wait a few weeks.

I wish I had more specific info but at this time I do not.
Please send as your heart leads you.

This is the Email I received from Project Linus. With this information, our need will be for adult large lap or twin sized quilts.

Thank you for reaching out to us. As of right now our plan is to provide the children from Robb Elementary blankets when they go back to school in August. Normally we just give to children in the counties that the chapters are in. I don't think that what you are doing overlaps with what we are planning. We are all trying to help is any way that we can. I would say that you are filling the immediate need and we will take up the needs of the coming months. If you have any more questions or concerns please feel free to ask
