A lot of good work happens from a distance, and we're grateful for it. But some things you only learn by staying: who keeps an eye on the kids, which porch is the gathering spot, what people need but won't say at a meeting.

John Perkins taught a generation of us that proximity comes first.

Who's the neighbor you know by face but not yet by name?

Jeremiah wrote this to exiles, people living in a city they never chose. God told them to build houses, plant gardens, and pray for the place anyway, because its good and theirs were tied together.

We believe that's still true here in Beechwood.

What might change if you prayed for your block by name this week?

Isaiah calls God's people repairers and restorers. Repair assumes something good was there first and is worth rebuilding. Community building didn't start with us, and it won't end with us. We're glad to be part of that long line of investment in Beechwood.

What in your neighborhood is worth restoring?

Every person carries the image of God. That's where we start, before any program or plan. We don't hand out flourishing. It's people becoming who they were made to be, and we get to be part of it.

Looking forward to the National Championship Saturday night!

It's game day! The are one win away from becoming the International League Champions!

At the end of the season, they presented our team with a generous check from their Intentional Walk fundraiser. We are so thankful for their support and partnership in our work and are so proud that they represent the Rochester community.
