The trigeminal nerve (also known as the fifth cranial nerve) is the main sensory nerve carrying information from the face to the brain.

When it's functioning properly, it transmits touch, temperature and pain from the skin, teeth, gums, lips, ears and even your eyes.

If it is damaged you may experience numbness, or in rare conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia, significant pain.

If you are experience pain or dysfunction in the face, an assessment from an Orofacial Pain Specialist can help determine if your trigeminal nerve is healthy.
