END-OF-SUMMER-POTLUCK

Want to celebrate the dog days of summer outdoors with us, meet people, and learn about existing and new campaign work? Come to our Quarterly General Meeting this Sunday, August 30!

We encourage contributions via potluck or membership, but the only admission requirement is an interest in pursuing justice in our community, whether it's through fighting for public power, for healthcare for all, for safety from state violence, or for dignified living for nursing home residents.

We hope to see you there!

We're proud to welcome Saint Joe's House of Hospitality as an endorser of the Rochester for Energy Democracy (RED) Campaign to replace RG&E with a public utility! Saint Joe's does amazing work providing meals, clothing, shelter, and community in the heart of Rochester's South Wedge.
If you or your organization wants to explore sign-on, learn more, or share why it's important to you that our utilities are owned by and run for the people, you can DM us, contact [email protected], or check out metrojustice.org!

“I've seen this fear before in the eyes of our families. But today, I saw that fear in the eyes of my staff,” she said. "The tactics are very haunting. You know, it's like sharks circling the waters. So it was it was a very scary situation for us.” - Angélica Pérez-Delgado, president & CEO of Ibero-American Action League, Inc.

While government vehicles were among the SUVs and pickups that circled the nonprofit's locations Wednesday, it was not immediately clear what agency or agencies were involved.

“Why should [Conifer] continue to get public funding from the federal, state and the city? If they can’t take care of the buildings they already have, if they can’t meet the most basic standards, why would we keep rewarding bad behavior?” -Rochester Tenant Union

Fed-up tenants rallied outside their landlord's headquarters on Thursday, calling on state and local leaders to stop giving money to Conifer Realty.

From 2024 to this May, almost FOUR HUNDRED people had been detained by ICE in Monroe County — nearly a person every day. We've since seen a summer surge of ICE activity. We need to be ready for when they come to our neighborhoods, because they're already here.
Join us this Saturday from 12-4pm as we share resources with neighbors on responding to ICE and how to get further involved in proactive community safety. All experience levels welcome; RSVP at metrojustice.org/icesafetycanvass3
