NEW: Both RG&E and NYSEG failed to meet the reliability standards they promised in 2025 and now, it's going to cost them millions. They have to keep track of how often the power goes out and for how long and in a report released today, the New York State Department of Public Service says NYSEG failed to meet the acceptable benchmarks for the 7TH YEAR IN A ROW. RG&E didn't meet its frequency threshold in 2025 either. NYSEG will lose out on $3.5m in revenue and RG&E will lose $5 million. **When utilities don't meet these targets, they are subject to negative revenue adjustments (NRA) which can be applied to current or future rate plans. The costs of these revenue adjustments are not (supposed to be) incurred by ratepayers.
