Workplace Wednesday: Boscov's

This week, we’re excited to highlight Boscov’s as they launched their first-ever United Way campaign at their Rochester location.

Though Boscov’s is new to Rochester, their commitment to supporting United Way is well established in other communities, and we’re grateful to see that spirit taking root here. At Monday’s kickoff, employees gathered for coffee and donuts as Mr. Boscov joined the team in celebrating the start of this new local partnership.

What made the event especially meaningful was hearing employees share personal stories about how United Way-funded partners have made a difference in their own lives. Those moments are a reminder that this work is never just about fundraising—it’s about people, connection and community.

Boscov’s also supports nonprofits through its Friends Helping Friends Charity Day, which gives organizations the opportunity to sell $5 shopping passes to supporters. Nonprofits keep the donation, and shoppers receive 25% off the lowest prices in-store and online on October 21.

We’re proud to welcome Boscov’s to the United Way community here in Rochester and grateful for their partnership as they begin this first campaign.

Week 3 of the 2026 Leadership Development Academy is a wrap, and this week asked something different of our cohorts.

This week centered on holistic leadership and leadership wellness. Our cohorts were reminded that sustainability in leadership is not a luxury. It is a requirement. You cannot show up fully for others if you have not first created space for yourself.

Thank you to this week's presenters across our Latino Leadership Development and African American Leadership Development programs for modeling exactly that. The way you showed up this week was its own lesson.

This is the reminder every leader needs: you are allowed to lead and be well at the same time. Sustainability in leadership is not a luxury. It never was.

And a special thank you to Ibero-American Action League, Inc. for their continued partnership and for hosting our LLDP program this week.

Our community showed up for United Way LIVE!

Together, we raised more than $31,000 and counting to support United Way programs, including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which mails free books to children from birth to age five.

Congratulations to ESL Federal Credit Union House Band, winner of the Golden Mic for raising the most money! And thank you to every band that brought its talent to Anthology: The VagaBONDs, Refer with Caution, ESL House Band and Built to Last.
