At Mercy, sustainability is about more than reducing waste—it's about creating opportunities and making a difference in our community and beyond. ♻

This year, Mercy students continued a powerful tradition of service through InterVol's Repurposed Unused School Supply Program. Thanks to their efforts, more than a quarter ton of notebooks, school supplies, and educational materials were given a second life and redistributed to students who need them most, including at Roberto Clemente School No. 8 in Rochester and the Boys & Girls Club of Tucson.

We're especially grateful to ✨graduating senior Maddie✨, who has led Mercy's school supply collection efforts for the past four years. Under her leadership, Mercy students collected an incredible 2,215 pounds of school supplies to support local students and schools around the world.

What may be surplus in one classroom can become a valuable resource in another. Through sustainability, service, and compassion, Mercy students are helping reduce waste, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for others to learn and thrive.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this effort and helped turn unused supplies into meaningful impact. Together, we're proving that small actions can make a big difference. 💙✨

Our recent 1928 Society gathering brought together alumnae, students, parents, and friends of Mercy to celebrate the enduring impact of a Mercy education and the bright future ahead.

Guests heard inspiring reflections from alumnae and current students, including members of the Class of 2026 who shared their Motto Projects addressing the Critical Concerns of Mercy. Their stories highlighted the leadership, compassion, and courage that define the Mercy experience and the difference Mercy women are making in the world.

We are grateful to the members of the 1928 Society and all who support Mercy's mission. Their generosity helps provide financial aid, strengthen academic programs, and create transformative opportunities for today's students and future generations of Mercy girls.

As we continue our journey toward Mercy's Centennial in 2028, we invite you to be part of the story.

It is with great joy we celebrate Sister Mary Dismas Foster, RSM ’41, on her extraordinary 85th Jubilee as a Sister of Mercy!

Inspired by the Sisters of Mercy she encountered as a student at St. John the Evangelist School and Our Lady of Mercy High School, Sister Dismas entered the congregation in 1941 and has spent the past 85 years living Mercy in action.

A dedicated educator for more than four decades, she taught at St. Charles Borromeo School and her beloved alma mater, Our Lady of Mercy.

Beyond the classroom, she devoted 40 years to volunteering at the Rochester Psychiatric Center, established a furniture ministry for families in need, and faithfully served countless members of the Rochester community through her many acts of compassion and generosity.

A proud Mercy alumna, former teacher, mentor, and servant leader, Sister Dismas continues to inspire us with her unwavering faith, humble spirit, and commitment to helping “the people of God.”

As she marks this incredible milestone, we join the Sisters of Mercy in giving thanks for her vocation, her witness, and the countless lives she has touched.

Last week we celebrated the remarkable Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women Class of 2026. 💙✨

What began as a journey filled with new friendships, first-day nerves, and endless possibilities has grown into a story of resilience, leadership, faith, and sisterhood. Together, these young women have filled our halls with laughter, learned through challenges, cheered one another on, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

As they step confidently into their next chapters, they carry with them the Mercy values that have shaped them—compassion, courage, service, and a commitment to making the world a better place.

While it's hard to say goodbye, we know this is only the beginning. The Class of 2026 leaves behind a legacy of excellence and a community that will always be cheering them on.

Despite the summer heat, the spirit of Mercy shone brightly at this year’s Rose Mass — one of our school’s most cherished traditions and a beautiful reminder of the bonds that make Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women so special.

Rose Mass marks the final time faculty and staff gather with the graduating senior class before Commencement. Traditionally, faculty and staff line the hall leading into the Motherhouse Chapel as seniors, dressed in their full graduation attire, process in before Mass. This year, with temperatures soaring, the Class of 2026 made a slight departure from tradition, wearing their graduation gowns only as they processed into the chapel — a practical adjustment that did nothing to diminish the significance of the occasion.

Held in the Motherhouse Chapel, the Mass offered a chance for reflection, gratitude, and celebration of the remarkable young women preparing to take their next steps. Following the liturgy, seniors, faculty, and staff gathered for a reception in the Gallery filled with conversation, laughter, memories, and delicious treats.

Rose Mass is more than a tradition; it is a testament to the relationships formed within our Mercy community — relationships rooted in faith, learning, service, and love. As we prepare to send our graduates into the world, we are reminded that while their time as students at Mercy may be coming to a close, they will always be part of the Circle of Mercy.

Together, we celebrate where they have been, all they have accomplished, and the bright future that awaits them. Once a Mercy Girl, always a Mercy Girl. 💙

Last week, the Class of 2030 took the stage to celebrate the culmination of their middle school journey. Dressed in graduation gowns, students gathered with family, friends, and faculty to mark this important milestone. 🎓💙

The ceremony featured heartfelt speeches from nominated class speakers, who shared cherished memories and lessons learned throughout middle school. Special awards were also presented to recognize students who exemplify the values of a Mercy girl through their character, leadership, service, and commitment to others.

For the first time, members of the graduating 8th grade class were honored to wear graduation gowns. More than a symbol of achievement, the gowns represented the shared identity that unites every Mercy student. While each graduate brings her own unique gifts and talents, all are part of a community shaped by faith, learning, service, leadership, and respect. Wearing the same gown served as a reminder that what connects them is stronger than what sets them apart, and that the values and character they have developed at Mercy will guide them as they move forward into high school and beyond.

Congratulations to our 21 Mercy student-athletes who earned All-League honors this spring, as selected by PPL Coaches and Athletic Directors! Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to your teams have been recognized among the league’s best.

🥍 Girls Lacrosse led the way with 10 All-League/Independent selections, highlighted by Mia Q., who was named Co-Player of the Year.

🥎 Softball celebrated 6 All-League honorees, including Leah S., who earned Division 1 Player of the Year honors.

🏈 Flag Football added 5 All-League selections, showcasing the continued growth and success of the program.

We are so proud of these athletes for representing Mercy with excellence on and off the field. Thank you for your leadership, determination, and passion throughout an outstanding season!
