After a long series of layovers and flights, the team is finally back home! We shared a moving and tearful goodbye with the Seaside team, along with lots of singing and excitement to come back again. Then we made the journey home.

Thank you for praying with us as we went on mission. We are eager to share the stories of God’s faithfulness on this trip.

Now please pray for our team, that we’d recover quickly from the horrors of jet lag and that we’d be ready for what God has next.

Day 8, and our week of ministry, is in the books!

In the morning, we traveled about an hour to worship at the Liboran location of Mindanao Christ’s Gospel Fellowship (MCGF). The small room was packed wall-to-wall with wonderfully friendly believers. We sang loud and heard various “special numbers,” and Aaron preached about evangelism from Matt. 28:18-20.

In the afternoon, we participated in another youth group program at the main MCGF campus, which included games, songs, and testimonies/preaching. Andy shared a moving testimony as well as some thoughts on 1 John 4:4 and Gal. 6:9. Aaron preached on the Christian response to sin from 1 John 1:8-9.

In the evening, we had a final time of fellowship with the Seaside staff. Members of our team shared how impactful the week was for them. Members of their team shared how our ministry this week blessed them. It was a sweet conclusion to a packed week of ministry, as we celebrated God’s faithfulness and the lifetime friendships that were forged.

Today we begin the trek back home. Our hearts are full, and we are grateful to God for his provision this week.

Day 7 is in the books!

Today was our rest/recreation day.

In the morning, we traveled an hour and a half away to go to Dahilayan Adventure Park. We enjoyed various high speed activities, including zip lines and a “Razorback” ride. It was the very first time on a zip line for one of our team members! Any guesses who?

In the afternoon, we went to a nice restaurant called Ricardo’s for lunch. It had a gorgeous view and wonderful food, including a sizzling, blue cornbread dessert called “bibingka.”

In the evening, we got some rest and spent some more time with the staff by the Snack Shack. We even had an impromptu testimony-sharing time, where we heard encouraging testimonies from two staff members.

Today is our last day of ministry. We’ll minister at a local church in the morning, run another youth Bible club in the afternoon, and then end the day by fellowshipping with the staff one last time.

We’re in the homestretch! Please pray that God would continue to give us strength, protect us from the evil one, and bless our efforts with fruit.

Day 6 is in the books!

In the morning, we kicked off EARLY with open-air evangelism in the market at 6am! We opened by singing a song with motions led by Victoria and Lydia. With very little notice, Andy stepped up and brought the house down by sharing his testimony in the open air. Then one of the Word of Life staff gave a gospel presentation in the local language. After that, our team spread throughout the market to hand out tracts and engage people in conversations about Jesus.

In the afternoon, we visited a local mall for lunch and some souvenir shopping. We ate at Jollibee’s, a popular Filipino fast food chain. Then our team explored the mall with our friends from Seaside.

In the evening, our team led an entire youth program at Kauswagan Bible Fellowship, a local church nearby. This included leading worship, playing a game, performing a skit, Cheyenne sharing her testimony, Aaron preaching on Romans 6:5, and the team engaging students in small groups.

Today will be a well-earned rest day. We’ll head to an adventure park to spend time together as a team before our last day of ministry on Sunday.

The Lord is working! Keep praying for God to sustain and use our team, all that Christ might be magnified!

Day 5 is in the books!

In the morning, we traveled to Talakag, a town in the mountains about an hour south of the camp. We went to visit Joyce and Melo Echem, but first we stopped by a church planted by Joyce’s father: Talakag Baptist Church. It was planted in 1940, continued meeting in WWII when Joyce’s family had to leave, and is still gathering today. The house where Joyce’s family lived behind the church (pictured 3rd) is also still standing, and the current senior pastor and youth pastor live there. It was a stunning testament to God’s enduring faithfulness.

From the morning into the afternoon, we visited Joyce and Melo in their new home. We ate lunch with them, and then we heard stories of their life and ministry, including testimonies from three close friends of their family. We came away greatly encouraged by their example.

In the evening, we split into a men’s ministry event (basketball) and a women’s ministry event (ladies’ fellowship). At basketball, after they playing a game, Andy shared his testimony, and Aaron shared a brief gospel message from Romans 5:1. At ladies’ fellowship, Lydia shared her testimony, and Rebecca shared a devotional about God accepting imperfect prayer based on Ps. 103:14 and Rom. 8:26-27.

Today we start early! We kick off with open-air evangelism and then have a Bible Club at a local church. Pray for God’s blessing on our efforts, that his word would bring fruit!

Day 4 is in the books!

Today was an all-day paint job! We wanted to serve Seaside Bible Camp directly, so our team worked with the staff to paint the dining hall and two cabins. Andy led the charge and divided up tasks for people to complete. Shauna and Lydia painted a mural for the dining hall entrance. It was a full day of work!

We also took breaks to enjoy some local snacks, including coconut milk/water, fried banana, and durian.

Tomorrow we are meeting with Joyce and Melo Echem, former directors of Seaside Bible Camp and longstanding missionary partners of Journey. Joyce was the very first Journey member sent out as a missionary many years ago.

After that, we’ll end the day with two ministry opportunities: a ladies fellowship and a basketball outreach. At the ladies fellowship, Lydia will share her testimony and Rebecca will share a devotional. At the basketball outreach, Andy will share his testimony and Aaron will give a gospel presentation.

We appreciate all of your prayers for us. Keep them coming! Pray especially for health and energy for the team, so that we can keep pushing hard in ministry.

Day 3 is in the books!

This morning was packed. The team started off with some time in the ocean. Then we joined in the camp staff devos, where a staff member taught on four reasons to not be ashamed of the gospel from Rom. 1:16-17. To round off the morning, we went to a local Christian school to do a puppet program with skits, songs, and a gospel presentation.

This afternoon, we had some more time off after a packed couple of days. For team devos, we talked about abiding in Jesus in John 15:1-17. The team then went back to the ocean to soak in the waves and sun.

This evening, we did another puppet program at a local basketball court. We then broke up into small groups to engage kids with the gospel.

Tomorrow we’re switching things up: we’ll spend the day working on painting the dining hall and a couple of cabins at the camp.

Pray for continued energy and zeal for Jesus! We love being part of what God is doing, but it is certainly forcing us to depend on his strength rather than ours. And pray for God to save souls through our ministry!

Day 2 is in the books!

In the morning, we had Orientation, including a camp tour and a tour of a local wet market. We even tried some great local fruit!

In the afternoon, we had a team devo time and an evangelism outing. For the devo times throughout the week, we are working through the Upper Room Discourse in John 14-16, learning how Jesus prepared his disciples for ministry and asking him to do the same for us.

For the evangelism outing, we went to a local park and engaged people in conversation. Our team had gospel conversations with dozens of people, and even more received gospel tracts!

In the evening, we spent some time with the staff playing volleyball and pickleball. We’ve enjoyed building deeper relationships with these partners in ministry, and we’re excited to see how God works through our cooperation this week!

Tomorrow we have two children’s ministry outings planned, both involving puppet skits/songs as part of engaging children with the gospel.

Pray for God to empower us by his Spirit to proclaim Christ and that he would bring fruit through our ministry!

Day 1 is in the books!

For the morning, we had a wonderful time worshipping with Mindanao Christ Gospel Fellowship. Our team sang a medley of worship songs, Shauna shared her testimony, and Aaron preached from Rom. 3:23-25 on “The Generous Gospel.” Theo was also very popular.

In the afternoon, the ladies went to a women’s fellowship event. Victoria shared her testimony, and the team was able to build relationships with other believers. The guys, on the other hand, helped set up for a video game outreach at the camp.

In the evening, the team practiced puppet skits and songs with the camp staff. We’ll perform them during evangelism outreaches at various schools during the week. Andy and Aaron also played with some of the kids who came for the video game outreach.

Today we have orientation with the camp staff in the morning, evangelism at a local park in the afternoon, and team building with the staff in the evening.

Keep praying for energy and boldness for our team! And also pray for good weather so that we can do ministry throughout the week!
