🐾 DO YOU RECOGNIZE ME?
Please come to Rochester Animal services as soon as possible to confirm ownership and reclaim them.
To reclaim your pet, bring:
° A photo ID
° A leash & collar for dogs OR a carrier for cats/small pets.
° Proof of ownership, such as:
• Vet/vaccine records
• Dog License
• Photos of your pet

📌 Important Hold Information:
° Pets with microchips or other ID tags/forms of identification: We will attempt to contact owners, please make sure your contact information is up to date. Owners will have 10 days to reclaim them.
° Pets without identification are held for a minimum of 3 days before becoming eligible for adoption.

📞 Call 585-428-7274 if you believe we may have your pet. Or come in during business hours for our team to assist you.

🐾 From the park to her forever home: Tootsie’s story

On the morning of June 22nd, some of our volunteers found a dog abandoned in one of our play yards at Brown Square Park, just across from Rochester Animal Services. She had an empty bag of food beside her, no registered microchip, and no one coming to claim her.

That dog was Tootsie.

Despite whatever she had been through, Tootsie never stopped being the silly, sweet girl who loved people and made everyone around her smile. She was calm, affectionate, gentle with treats, and always ready for a walk, a cuddle or a little attention from her favorite humans.

And then, someone came looking for her.

Today, Tootsie is Ari, and she is home. ❤️

Her new mom and dad shared that Ari came into their lives after they lost their dog, filling a “bully-sized hole” in their hearts — and then filling it with even more love than they could have imagined.

They told us she arrived already knowing sit, wait, down, paw and gentle, and that they feel incredibly lucky to call her their own.

Now, instead of wondering where she belongs, Ari gets to spend her days exactly where she was meant to be: home. Taking great naps. Getting all the snuggles. Making her family laugh. And being loved beyond words.

And the sweetest part? Her family sent us a bunch of cute pictures of her new life. 🥹

Tootsie’s story is a reminder of why we do what we do — and why adoption matters. Every animal who comes through our doors deserves the chance to leave behind the hardships life dropped on them, and discover what comes next.

Welcome home, Ari. We’re so happy you found your people. ❤️🐾

Hi, I’m Birria! I’m a 3-year-old, 63-pound sweet girl who loves spending time with my people and enjoying life’s simple moments. I’m perfectly happy entertaining myself or curling up for a peaceful nap while you work.

Our Pet of the Week is Delta✨

At just a little over 2 years old, Delta is a gentle giant with a whole lot of love to give! This sweet girl is the total package—friendly, affectionate, playful, and always ready for some attention.

Delta loves going for walks and exploring the world around her. She’s also had positive experiences playing with other dogs in the shelter, showing that she enjoys making furry friends! 🐶

A few of Delta’s favorite things:

🦴 Treats (and she takes them oh-so-gently!)

🐶 Making new friends

Delta is also a great listener who already knows sit and paw/shake! She’s a smart girl who is eager to please and ready to find a family who will love her as much as she’ll love them.

🌿 COME MEET GABRIEL! 🌿

From barely being able to walk to ready for his next big adventure.

Hi, I’m Gabriel! I’m almost 3 years old and 49 pounds, and these days, I’m a happy, curious guy who loves getting outside, finding the best sticks and spending time with my favorite people.

But when I first came to Rochester Animal Services, I was in really rough shape. I weighed just 24.8 pounds and was so weak that I could barely walk. With plenty of care, patience and lots of little meals, I’ve come a long way — and now look at me!

I’m ready to trade my shelter days for a forever home where I can keep growing, exploring and being the sweet boy I’ve always wanted to be.
