(aka Verona Street Animal Society / VSAS) is dedicated to providing the resources necessary to enable Rochester Animal Services to more effectively serve the public’s animal care and control, pet sterilization, and pet adoption interests and, in cooperation with the City of Rochester, to support the mission of Rochester Animal Services. RAS is a municipal animal care and control agency dedicated to providing information, assistance, and pet re-homing for the Rochester community to support pet retention and encourage compliance in order to help people and animals.

This Sunday, October 11, all available animals — and their friends in foster care — are FREE this Sunday!

And these three? They’re already spayed/neutered and ready to come home the same day.

🤎 MEET RED: A LITTLE SHY, A LOT SWEET

Hi, I’m Red.

I’m still figuring out this whole “meeting new people” thing. New faces can make me nervous, so I’d really appreciate someone who understands that friendships take time.

I might be a little shy at first. But give me a little patience, a few gentle introductions and some time to warm up, and you’ll start to see the sweet boy underneath.

And once I’m comfortable? Oh, I LOVE my people.

Pet me. Give me scritches. Tell me I’m handsome. I’m very much on board with all of it.

I also love going for walks and exploring and have a very specific opinion about my puppy walking buddies. 😂 If they are the right one, we walk. If not, I'm a pancake on the floor.

I’m 1 year old, about 51 pounds and have the softest brown eyes you’ll ever see. I’m looking for a home without children under 8 and a family willing to let me take my time getting comfortable with new people.

I may not be the dog who runs up to everyone and says hello.

But I might just be the dog who quietly chooses you.

🐾 DO YOU RECOGNIZE ME?
Please come to Rochester Animal services as soon as possible to confirm ownership and reclaim them.
To reclaim your pet, bring:
° A photo ID
° A leash & collar for dogs OR a carrier for cats/small pets.
° Proof of ownership, such as:
• Vet/vaccine records
• Dog License
• Photos of your pet

📌 Important Hold Information:
° Pets with microchips or other ID tags/forms of identification: We will attempt to contact owners, please make sure your contact information is up to date. Owners will have 10 days to reclaim them.
° Pets without identification are held for a minimum of 3 days before becoming eligible for adoption.

📞 Call 585-428-7274 if you believe we may have your pet. Or come in during business hours for our team to assist you.

🎃 HI. I’M MEMO. AND YES, I KNOW I LOOK A LITTLE...DIFFERENT.

(Read this in the voice of Ryan Reynolds...character...Deadpool.)

I have a theory about what happened.

Maybe my previous family thought I wanted to dress up as a bald turkey for Halloween.

Or perhaps they were going for more of a naked mole rat situation.

Honestly? I respect the commitment to the costume.

But just so we're clear: my skin is perfectly healthy, and my fur will grow back. I’m just currently rocking a very exclusive, limited-edition look. 😂

Underneath all that missing fur, I’m still the same handsome 6-year-old, 70-pound boy I’ve always been.

I’m gentle, calm and pretty independent. I love going for walks, sniffing around and taking my time to investigate all the interesting smells. I’m also not the type to rush into a new friendship. I like to get to know you first.

But once I decide you’re my person? That’s when you get to see my sweet and loyal side.

I’m looking for someone who will let me take things at my own pace, enjoy some good walks with me and appreciate the quiet companionship of a dog who just likes being around his people.

And by the way, my fur will grow back.

So if you adopt me now, you get to say you knew me during my naked mole rat era.

Our Pet of the Week is Laredo✨

This happy one-year-old boy loves being around people and is always curious about the world around him. He enjoys going for walks and spending time outside, making him a great companion for someone who loves getting out and exploring.

Laredo is also a good listener who knows how to sit, and he takes treats very nicely. With his happy personality, curious nature, and love for people, Laredo is ready to find a family to share plenty of walks, adventures, and fun with! ❤️

2 years old | Your future adventure buddy + professional shadow

Hi! I’m Belinda, and I have a very important question:

Do you have room in your life for a playful little shadow who follows you around, gives excellent kisses and thinks every toy deserves a chance?

Because I’m available for the job. 💕

I’m a 2-year-old girl with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart. I love to play, I love treats, and I have yet to meet a toy I didn’t want to investigate. If it squeaks, rolls or can be tossed, I’m interested.

But my favorite thing might just be you.

I love staying close to my people and following them from room to room. I’m happiest when I know where my person is, and I’m always ready to offer a gentle kiss or two.

I’m currently going through heartworm treatment, so for now, I’m dreaming about all the adventures we’ll have once I’m healed and ready to go. I’d love a family who can give me plenty of fun, enrichment and activity when the time comes.

Until then, I’m looking for someone willing to help me through this chapter and show me just how good life can be.
