Marriage requires intentional effort and growth, not just relying on what comes naturally. People often enter relationships without realizing their own selfish tendencies, the significant differences between partners, and the importance of clear communication instead of assumptions.

Strong relationships are built by learning to be selfless, understanding each other’s emotional and physical needs, and openly expressing expectations. Practical boundaries—like maintaining privacy in conflicts and seeking wise guidance when needed—also help protect the relationship.

Spiritual connection, such as supporting each other through prayer, can deepen intimacy and shift perspective during challenges. Ultimately, lasting marriages are strengthened over time through commitment, effort, and the willingness to work through difficulties together rather than giving up too quickly.

Relationships don’t usually lose connection suddenly—life just gets busy, and romance slowly gets pushed aside by responsibilities and routine.

Strengthening the relationship comes from small, consistent actions rather than big changes. Simple gestures like appreciation, kind words, and thoughtful notes help rebuild emotional closeness and make each person feel valued.

Setting aside focused, distraction-free time to talk or spend time together is also key. It creates space for real communication, understanding, and emotional reconnection without interruptions.

Physical affection and shared moments of fun also play an important role. Hugs, kisses, laughter, and playful activities help deepen bonding, release stress, and bring back a sense of closeness and enjoyment in the relationship.

Uninterrupted, phone-free conversations help people feel heard and connected. Setting aside about 20 minutes—such as during a walk without distractions—creates space for more natural, open communication.

A partner who values words of affirmation feels most loved through spoken or written appreciation. Small, thoughtful compliments often go unsaid, so it helps to intentionally notice and record positive actions or qualities throughout the week. Later, sharing these observations—such as in a note—can make the other person feel deeply appreciated and strengthened in the relationship.

Write a short, heartfelt sticky note to your partner and place it somewhere they’ll notice. Even a simple message can brighten their day or deeply impact them emotionally, especially during a tough moment, and these small gestures can become meaningful keepsakes over time.

Romance in a relationship doesn’t usually disappear on purpose—it fades due to busyness and lack of intentional effort, causing couples to drift into feeling like roommates. Rebuilding that connection doesn’t require drastic changes, but small, consistent actions: thoughtful gestures, regular appreciation, distraction-free conversations, physical affection, shared fun, and intentional intimacy. Even with challenges like kids or busy schedules, prioritizing each other and communicating openly can restore closeness. Overall, strong relationships thrive when both people are intentional about nurturing connection, rather than letting life run on autopilot.

💭 Not every marriage starts with financial stability — and ours didn’t either.

Right after our honeymoon, we both stepped straight into full-time jobs, trying to build a life, pay the bills, and figure out marriage all at the same time. 💸

In this episode, we get real about the early financial struggles that shaped our marriage — the mistakes, the pressure, and the lessons we had to learn the hard way.

We talk about:
✨ Starting marriage under financial pressure
✨ Working jobs we didn’t necessarily want, but needed
✨ Learning how money impacts marriage decisions
✨ Growing through failure instead of being defined by it

Sometimes the strongest marriages are built in the hardest seasons.

Hey guys, Chris here for a change. I normally don’t post mushy things about my wife on social media. Mainly because I know there are people who will read this and feel a heart pang because they long to be married or in love. (I’m very sensitive to that) but today I have to celebrate my wife on our 25th wedding anniversary. We met at 16, fell hard and fast, and on our very first date I asked her if she liked my haircut… then kissed her before she could even answer (fortunately I didn’t get slapped). Since then we’ve built a life full of coffee shops, deep conversations, hard seasons, healing, laughter, worship, romantic comedies, road trips, and a love that somehow keeps getting deeper. She’s still the most beautiful woman in every room, still fiercely loyal, wise, creative, tender hearted, and still the kind of woman whose eyes light up when she looks at me (She deserves a medal). After everything we’ve walked through together, my heart still skips a beat when she walks in the room and I’d choose her all over again every single time. I love you Megan Colleen Rea.

💭 Healthy marriages don’t just happen by accident.

The strongest couples are intentional — about their finances, their fun, their faith, and their future together. 🤍

In this episode, we talk about:
✨ Financial intimacy and getting on the same page
✨ Setting marriage goals together
✨ Planning fun and meaningful experiences as a couple
✨ Why healthy relationships require intentional growth

From paying off debt to planning vacations, reading books together, and strengthening your connection — building a thriving marriage takes teamwork and purpose. 🙏

Because “couple goals” isn’t perfection… it’s choosing to grow together year after year.
