Building Futures Inc.

Building Futures Inc. Founded by Adam Jablonski and Jim Nowak, our organization cares for the education, health and welfare of impoverished children in Kenya. Bonaventure University.

Building Futures, Inc is an IRS authorized 501(c)3. Our mission is to aid in the education of impoverished Kenyans. That is accomplished through building or rebuilding schools, providing existing classrooms with electricity via solar power, and caring for the health and welfare of the students as well as the surrounding community. About Us:

Founded in 2006 by Adam Jablonski and Jim Nowak, our de

ar friend who's spirit continues to inspire us. James Bostwick Nowak June 9, 1951 - January 28, 2011

Adam Jablonski and his wife Andrea live in Fairport, NY and have three children. Katie is a sales representative for WB Mason in Rochester, Kevin is a Senior at St. John Fisher College, and their youngest, Karen, is a sophomore at St. The duo first met while Jim was serving as President of Joining Hearts & Hands (another 501(c)3 organization). While working together in Kenya in February of 2006, the seeds of what has now become Building Futures, Inc were planted. They spend their time in Kenya living within the community they are helping. They utilize local vendors for all building supplies to help support local commerce. Their hands-on approach ensures that donations are not squandered. Steve Erickson is the latest addition to the team, and has happily taken over all financial responsibilities for the organization.

Meet Sharon. Sharon is a member of the Kalinjin tribe living in Narok, and this was when we first met her last year. She was attending the only school in the region that had a special needs class - Masikonde Primary School. Our friend Isaac’s sister-in-law Veronica is one of two special-ed teachers at this elementary school. Karen was invited to help teach there and leaped at the opportunity. - Karen’s working on her Masters degree in Education. She was the first to meet Sharon who has been a member of this classroom for years. Sharon is 23. On the ride back to our room, she brought us up to date on Sharon’s story. This is where our story with Sharon begins. It is not where it ends.

Construction at the Maternity Center at the Sekenani Gate in Masai Mara is complete! We must now wait for recent elections to settle so that the Kenyan government can fulfill their obligation to supply all necessary equipment to the facility as well as building staffing quarters for the Drs/Nurses. Thanks to all of you who supported this project!

We're thrilled that Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College has once again returned to Kenya! Seven years ago, Jim and Adam were proud to help bring SJF faculty and students to Western Kenya for a learning experience like no other! Here are some pictures from that trip in 2010 where we partnered with them at Mbaka Oromo Primary School.
We look forward to seeing new pictures, and anxiously anticipate working with them again on future projects. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Safari njema marafiki yangu!

It's hard to believe that six years have passed since we lost our dear friend, Jim. We're grateful that he continues to help guide us. He would have loved to be a part of the new Birthing Center Project at Masai Mara! Don't worry... he will be.

Our next project has us moving from northern Nyanza Province to the southern part of the Rift Valley. Green and lush farming plots are replaced with miles of grasslands and spotty trees. Although the landscape has changed, the people are just as wonderful and welcoming. The Masai will be the benefactors of the birthing center we plan to build. It will not only serve as a clean and safe environment for childbirth, but it will also provide vital pre and post-natal care that is currently non-existent in the area. Please look at these pictures and say "hello" to our newest friends!

A big THANK YOU to Tim Garmin at Fairport Brewing for giving us an opportunity to raise some money and spread awareness. We raised $1,100 and had a lot of fun doing it! Congratulations to the winner of the 50" flatscreen - Jacquie had winning ticket #759059! She can't say, "I never win anything," anymore! Thanks again to the Fairport Music Festival, Fairport Brewing and everyone that attended and supported this event!
