With a heavy heart, we announce the pause of Art on the Ave in 2024. We have made this decision to prioritize the well-being of our volunteer board.

Art on the Ave remains committed to enhancing the Slatterly Park Arts District through public art and beautification projects. During this hiatus, we'll evaluate our current collection of sculptures for repairs and explore new projects.

Interested in contributing or getting involved? Send us an email at [email protected].

While we're on pause, we encourage artists to explore opportunities with local organizations like Forager Brewery, Threshold Arts, Rochester Art Center, Rochester MN Pride, and more. Your continued participation in these events contributes to the vibrant arts community in Rochester.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

We are thrilled to have a new permanent sculpture in the Slatterly Park Neighborhood on the 900 block of 6th Ave SE!
"Prairie Flames" by the incredible artist Tim Adams speaks to the beauty of the prairies which once covered our land. The spiral, upward reaching “flames”, rise out of the ground striving towards the sun. The piece is constructed of weathered steel flames with stainless steel reflective strips and round “buttons” which will catch the sun. The irony of a prairie is to maintain the beauty and health of a prairie, it must be burned every 4-8 years—it must be destroyed, by “flames” to thrive. Just like prairies, vital neighborhoods need to be reactivated, redefined, and transformed—while not through fire like the prairie, neighborhoods face forces outside themselves which require rebuilding and adapting to thrive.
