Active Minds at OU

Active Minds at OU We are a chapter of the national organization dedicated to eliminating the stigma of mental illness through awareness, education and fundraising.

We work to provide students with accurate mental health information, as well as knowledge of on-campus resources, through our various events and targeted campaigns. We challenge students to speak up and actively fight the stigma surrounding mental health in both our culture and everyday lives. In doing so, we start an open and honest dialogue around mental health and foster a safe, healthier envir

onment here at Oakland University. We will meet on Thursdays from 12-1 PM and host several events throughout the semester (see Events here or on GrizzOrgs for specific dates). Feel free to contact any one of our E-Board members personally at the emails listed on GrizzOrgs or send a message our way on Facebook.

We are making an OU Active Minds Collage! The main phrase will say “I raise awareness for mental health at OU because ____________” fill in the blank! Some common phrases that come to mind are so no one feels alone, or so everyone has the freedom to express who they are without judgement.

Your sign can be designed however you like, on posterboard, on computer paper and as colorful as you would like it to be. The goal is to bring out your unique characteristics and allow us to show other OU students that there are people on campus who care. I would like you to hold your sign and ask a friend/family member to take a picture of you. (If you are uncomfortable doing so, I understand and would still love to see the pretty sign you made)
