Each year, the Women's Foundation of Genesee Valley finds a young woman who has excelled in her life in some way, and we make a wish come true.

This year, we are granting the wish of Jamlya. She has been accepted into the University of Rochester and will be majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Her wish is to have her dorm room decorated!

At WFGV, we believe in uplifting women and girls who are courageously going after their goals, and we want to celebrate them as they step into their next chapter.

Please join us in celebrating our incredible board member, Dr. Saabirah Campo! 🎉🎓

Dr. Campo recently graduated with her Doctoral degree from the University of Rochester and was also honored with the prestigious Susan B. Anthony Emerging Leader Award. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional promise while carrying forward the principles of equity and social change.

And if you know Dr. Campo, you know this recognition is more than deserved. She is a powerful connector, a visionary leader, and someone who truly cares about people and community. She has a remarkable gift for bringing others together around meaningful causes and creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and inspired to act.

We are deeply grateful to have her serving on the board of the Women's Foundation of Genesee Valley.

What an incredible moment for our community and for women in service. 🇺🇸✨

The Women's Foundation of Genesee Valley is beyond proud of our very own board member, Sharon Hancock, who proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was part of Rochester’s first all female Honor Flight mission alongside 59 women veterans. What a powerful reminder of the strength, courage, leadership, and sacrifice of women who have served our country.

To see these heroes welcomed home with such love and emotion was absolutely beautiful. Sharon, thank you for your service, your leadership, and for representing women everywhere with such excellence.

We say it all the time, but truly… we have the coolest board members. ❤️💙🇺🇸
