If your loved one is ill in NY, you can take paid family leave to care for them. But if you're ill, the state's outdated paid medical leave program forces you to survive off $170/week. Moms First and Bobbie are calling for change in Empire Report NY

Nonprofits across New York are still waiting on delayed contract payments and facing unpredictable funding processes that make it harder to keep serving communities.

When funding is delayed, essential services are put at risk — from legal aid to housing support to healthcare and education.

Lawmakers can fix this. It only takes a minute to send a message urging legislators to improve nonprofit contracting and ensure organizations get paid on time.

Please join us to show solidarity with Dolores as she fights her detention and for her freedom. Join us for a press conference and rally at 9am, May 26 in Rochester.

🗓️Tuesday May 26th: 9am gather, 9:30 press conference, 11am: Hearing (expected to take place through the end of the day).
📍United States District Court for the Western District of NY, Federal Building, 100 State Street, Rochester, NY 14614

Dolores is a farmworker, mother, grandmother, and leader who has been detained by ICE since April 22. On May 26th Western District Federal Court Judge V***a will hear evidence from Dolores' lawyers to demonstrate that she was unlawfully detained and that she is not a threat to society.

We want to pack the court, and, not all of us will be able to enter the courtroom due to capacity limitations, but we want to ensure that friends and family of Dolores are able to attend the hearing. We ask that participants support our efforts to help reach these goals. We hope that enough people will attend to show solidarity and support and if the courtroom reaches capacity, a groundswell of supporters outside will have just as powerful an impact.

As temperatures continue to rise across the country, workers are once again facing dangerous and often deadly heat conditions on the job. This summer is shaping up to be another excruciating season for workers, especially in construction, warehouses, agriculture, airports, restaurants, delivery work, manufacturing, and other high heat industries. We need to be ready.

National COSH and their esteemed partners at UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) invite you to join two free virtual Heat Safety 101 teach-ins this week focused on preventing heat illness at work. These trainings are open to all workers, organizers, advocates, worker centers, unions, and community leaders.

Participants will gain practical tools, organizing resources, and critical knowledge to take back to their workplaces and communities to help protect workers this summer.
