Rochester Youth Reach (RYR) members represent over 30 different area businesses, schools, social service, and non-profit agencies. RYR seeks to advocate for and create community awareness around the issue of teen homelessness as well as collaborate with and strengthen community partners serving these at risk youth and their families.
Rochester Youth Reach (RYR) is a nonprofit coalition of community partners in the Greater Rochester area committed to the support of area youth experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. More than 150 students in the Rochester School District alone experience housing insecurity or homelessness every year. RYR members represent over 30 different area businesses, schools, social service and nonprofit agencies. The RYR Coalition advocates for these at-risk students by increasing community awareness around the issue of teen homelessness, supporting area partners that serve these youth and their families, and planning and fundraising for the long term goal of establishing a Youth Resource Center. The primary work of RYR has been to support the Rochester School District Families in Transition office with funds and supplies to help provide a sense of normalcy for disadvantaged and vulnerable students who are often living in crisis and uncertainty. Donations fund support through gift cards for food so homeless students can eat when school is closed, clothing items for work, shoes for sports at school, or health and hygiene items.
