Well done High Falls District!

September Recruitment Brings Strong Momentum Across GFLX

September was a strong month for membership recruitment across the Greater Finger Lakes Council, and that success came from a lot of hard work by volunteers, staff, and Scouting families throughout our communities.

Five districts finished the month with positive membership growth: Delahanna, Erie Trails, Hiawatha, High Falls, and Scout Reach.

Even more encouraging, seven districts recruited more new members than they did last September: Chenango, Delahanna, Glacier Lakes, High Falls, Scout Reach, Waters Edge, and Western Gateway.

Every school night, Open House, community event, conversation with a family, and invitation to join Scouting helped build that momentum.

Thank you to everyone who helped make September a success. Now let’s carry that energy into October and keep welcoming more families into Scouting!

If you're not in Scouting and want to learn more or join, go to ScoutsRock.org!

Join us at the October Roundtable tomorrow where we will have a speaker from the Civil Air Patrol to tell us about CAP and options for unit programming. Send someone from your unit to learn about this unique opportunity and get an activity planned that night! https://rcs.cap.gov/

We will also discuss some minor rechartering changes and hear about upcoming events and training opportunities. If you are a new leader with scouting questions, please bring them to Roundtable - we always have several experienced scouters and our District Director attend.

Fall recruitment is underway, and families are searching BeAScout.org to find Scouting opportunities near them. Your unit’s BeAScout pin may be their very first impression of your Pack, Troop, Crew, or Ship — so make sure it tells them what they need to know!

Take a few minutes to review and update your unit information, including:

Meeting day, time, and location
Unit dues and other helpful information for new families
Current contact and leader information
Unit website and social media links
Online application settings
Any additional details that help families understand what makes your unit special

While you’re there, this is also a great opportunity to make sure the person listed as your primary contact is still the right person to respond quickly to prospective families.

Think of your BeAScout pin as your unit’s online front door. Make it easy for a new family to look at your unit and say, “This looks like the place for us!”

Log in to www.my.scouting.org and visit Organization Manager and the Unit Pin to review your information today.

Tomorrow is our first Roundtable of the new year! We've got several folks working hard to make Roundtables more engaging and informative for all units.

Corky Kelsey from the Monroe County Division of Pure Waters will join us at the Roundtable to share opportunities for your unit to learn how this program works to reduce pollution in local bodies of water. https://www.monroecounty.gov/des-purewaters

We will also have a District Committee & Commissioners meeting at 6:00pm, just before Roundtable. This is open to all who would like to share their ideas on how to improve our District operations!

We hope to see you there!
