SPCC serves families across Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Seneca, and Yates Counties. These are the homelands of the Haudenosaunee, including the Seneca and Cayuga Nations, whose communities have cared for this land and its children for generations and continue to do so today.

The Haudenosaunee Seventh Generation principle asks us to weigh every decision by its impact on children seven generations from now. Raising children is shared work, held by extended family and community. SPCC is proud to share in this work, and to help strength families in order to strengthen communities.

We're back from Toronto! 🇨🇦

SPCC just returned from the 2026 World Association for Infant Mental Health - WAIMH Congress, where people from around the world gathered to learn how to better support babies, young children, and the relationships that help them grow.
Our team had a lot to share:
💬 Alana Russotti and Sarah Fitzgibbons presented SPCC's Parent-Child Observation Tool (P-COT), created to support visitation professionals.
💬 Sarah also shared her research on how reflective supervision builds practitioners' reflective capacity.
📌 Pengmai Qiu presented a poster on mental health evaluations for infants and toddlers in foster care.
📌 Leah Elliott, Legion Johnson-Gatsby, and Erick Stephens presented a poster on building an infant mental health aware community, "Into the Hands of Parents."

We also loved spending time with colleagues from across the globe and with partners closer to home, including Healthi Kids, Early Care & Learning Council, Docs for Tots, ZERO TO THREE, Adelphi University's Institute for Parenting, National Center for Reflective Supervision & Practice, Alliance for the Advancement of Infant Mental Health, and The New York State Association for Infant Mental Health

Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible. We can't wait to bring what we learned back to the families we serve here in Rochester. 💙

💛 Free Training for Parents & Caregivers: Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health

Healthy development starts with relationships. SPCC's Mary Ellen Institute invites parents and caregivers to a training series focused on supporting the little ones you love. Together we'll reflect on our own childhood experiences and think about the kind of childhood we want for the children in our lives—ages 0 to 5.

No therapy, no pressure—just a supportive space to learn and connect.
