Olmsted-Rochester Law Enforcement K-9 Foundation Supporting the K-9 Units of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office & the Rochester Police Department

Police dogs are an invaluable tool to law enforcement officers as well as the community. They track suspects, sniff out narcotics, explosives, weapons, critical evidence and much more. They provide a critical role in making the officer/deputies much job safer. The Olmsted / Rochester Law Enforcement K-9 Foundation recognizes the importance of these animals and was founded as a non-profit organization with the intent of supporting the K-9 Units of the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Officer and Rochester Police Department. Although the foundation is a separate entity, it works in cooperation with the K-9 Units to identify and provide special needs that are unable to be funded through the department’s regular budgets. K-9 Athena’s story is a wonderful reminder of why community support matters. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helps us continue supporting our local K-9s and their handlers when they need it most.

Recently, Athena’s life was saved through multiple operations that were funded by this great organization. If you’re so inclined, they make it very easy to donate to support their great cause. I’m very thankful that Athena is still around to work on behalf of Olmsted County residents!

💔 POLICE K-9 KILLED DURING ATTEMPT TO ARREST MURDER SUSPECT. Gresham Police Department OR say a man wanted in connection with a homicide was located near a Portland hotel Thursday afternoon.
Portland Police Bureau say the suspect tried to flee as United States Marshals Service local officers moved in to arrest him. An officer-involved shooting followed.
The suspect was struck and died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts. Police said a gun was recovered nearby.
Tragically, Portland Police K-9 Kylo was also struck by gunfire. He was rushed for emergency veterinary care but did not survive.

Good job K-9 Fritz and Officer McKee

At approximately 12:50 a.m., Thursday, September 17, Duluth Police observed suspicious drug activity coming from a vehicle parked in the area of 6th Avenue East and 4th Street. A short time later, officers conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, officers gained additional information that led to reasonable suspicion for a K9 sniff. K9 Fitz was deployed and alerted to the presence of illicit drugs. During the search of the vehicle, officers seized 80 grams of methamphetamine, 20 grams of co***ne, and fentanyl.

39-year-old Daniel Diver and 58-year-old Alice Robinson were lodged at the St. Louis County Jail for pending charges of 1st Degree Sales and 5th Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance.
