Reminder that this Friday, September 4th is an "X" Day! Longfellow students will report to school as usual. [All other RPS students will NOT be reporting that day.]

A few reminders about X Day:

🚌Bussing:
Because Pinewood does not have school, the only bus running will be the Longfellow bus.

🍽 Menu For Friday:
Breakfast - Brekkies & Muffins
Lunch - Boneless Wings, Potato Rings, Broccoli, and Diced Peaches

🍭Move-A-Thon Celebration Day:
Friday is our Bonus Recess and Popsicle Day! Remember to get those permission slips in for your Leopard to participate!

Fall Conferences are coming up and the PTA would like your help to provide a taco bar meal for the staff in the lounge!

We will have a Taco Bar Dinner on Thursday, September 10. PTA will provide meat and we are looking for volunteers to donate all of the other fixings. Items can be dropped off beginning September 8 and no later than 2:30 PM on September 10. Please label items "Conference Meal."

Feel free to sign for more than 1 spot if you would like, as they are broken down into individual quantities. We have had very generous donations in the past, so if you pick up more than one pack, please be sure to sign up for more than one spot so we can keep food waste to a minimum.

Psst…! We have a surprise in store for our Leopards next week but we wanted to ask ahead of time for some help to get things in order.

At Monday morning’s assembly, kids will get to see our All Star Move-A-Thon results and find out that we exceeded our goal! Also they will find out that as special thank you for their hard work and success, we worked with Mrs. Adams to arrange a special event on this upcoming X Day! We’ll be hosting an “X-tra” Recess and passing out popsicles in the afternoon on Friday, September 4th. A permission slip will be coming home with students for popsicles, so be on the lookout for those and send them back to their teacher at your earliest convenience.

Here’s our ask for our awesome Longfellow family: we could use some hands and eyes to help supervise recess and pass out popsicles! Consider signing up for a 30 minute block if you can. Looking forward to helping celebrate our Leopard success!

🏆 WE DID IT! 🏆

What a team effort! A huge thank you to all of our amazing families for showing up, cheering us on, and participating in this year’s All Star Move-A-Thon. Because of your support, we crossed the finish line and met our fundraising goal! 🎉

We are so proud of what we can accomplish when we work together and excited to see what this year has in store for our school community.🏅

Tonight (August 23) at 11:59 PM will be your LAST chance to make a donation and help us stretch our goal.

Check out our school dashboard for any last-minute contributions and be a part of our success story! So far we’ve got 48% of our student families with donations. Can you imagine if we had 100%? Your support, no matter the size, makes a huge difference for our school. Every little bit helps!

P.S. Movement minute logs will close at 11:59pm tonight too, so make sure to update your student's log to maximize their chance at reaching 500 minutes to be eligible for a raffle ticket to receive a gift basket from Boundless or One Athletics!

🎉 STRETCH GOAL LEVEL UNLOCKED 🎉

Our Leopard All Stars have set a speed record! 🙌 The Longfellow community came together and reached our $15,000 fundraising goal a day early! 🐾 We are so grateful for every donation, share, conversation, and family who helped us reach this milestone. But we are on a roll! 🎉 So we’re extending the deadline to donate to 11:59pm on Sunday, August 23rd and stretching our goal to $18,000!

Every additional dollar we receive gives us an even greater opportunity to support our students and staff and the experiences that make our Leopard community so special. 🐾💙💛

There is no pressure to give; we are already celebrating this incredible milestone! But if you’ve been meaning to participate or if you’d like to help us see just how far we can take this, we’d love to have you join us for the final stretch.

Also do not forget to update your student's Movement Minutes log on their Get Movin' Fund Hub webpage. Those with over 500 minutes logged will be entered into a raffle for a gift basket from One Athletics or Boundless!
