🌡️ Dangerous heat is in the forecast this week, and pets are counting on us to keep them safe.
When temperatures soar, even a short walk or a few extra minutes outside can put your pet at risk for heatstroke or burned paw pads.
Follow the walk guide below and remember:
• Walk during the early morning or late evening whenever possible.
• Always bring fresh water and take plenty of breaks.
• Test the pavement with the back of your hand. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws.
• Never leave a pet in a parked car, even for a minute.
• Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse.
If it's too hot outside, swap the walk for indoor enrichment, a puzzle toy, or a game of fetch down the hallway. Your pet will thank you!
