The New Hampshire Branch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit scientific and educational organization serving Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.

The International Dyslexia Association is a nonprofit organization founded in 1949 to continue the pioneering work of Samuel T. Orton, MD, in the study and treatment of dyslexia. The New Hampshire Branch is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to the study and treatment of specific language disabilities (dyslexia). We educate the community about the causes, symptoms, assessment and remediation of dyslexia; disseminate information about available resources; teach multisensory structured language instructional approaches to educators and other professionals; and collaborate with organizations working on behalf of people with dyslexia. This branch was formed to increase public awareness of dyslexia, and through our seminars, conferences, and workshops, servicing individuals with dyslexia, their families, and professionals in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. The NH Branch sponsors workshops, conferences, trainings and scheduled community-based trainings each year designed to provide information about different aspects of dyslexia. To find out more about what is happening go to our Calendar/Events section. NH-IDA also runs simulation workshops that demonstrate what it is like to have dyslexia--an eye-opening experience that helps parents and teachers appreciate what a struggle learning can be for people with dyslexia. We also offer scholarships to help teachers obtain training in multisensory structured language education (MSLE) for teaching students with dyslexia. Many of our 150+ members include educators, psychologists, physicians, individuals with dyslexia, and parents who have dealt with learning disability issues with local public and private schools. Local tutoring, testing, and other referral information can be obtained by contacting us.
