Get out and Ride!!
Question: What are some uncommon yet very comfortable longer distance capable bikes?
Pictured: some options:
The light green bike is made by the company ‘Burley’
the model name is ‘Canto’.
It is a long wheelbase (wheelbase refers to the degree of separation between front and back wheels) recumbent bike. ‘Recumbent’ refers to the riders seating position …… in this case slightly leaning back and typically with a full-support seat and back-rest.
A long wheelbase bike such as this has advantage of softening sharp bumps because the frame and seat flex slightly & absorb & insulate the rider from most bumps.
This type of bike , with its full “seat-pan” , is very comfortable for use in long distance rides. I have ridden this bike as far as 50 miles in an afternoon ride without becoming saddle-sore.
In addition to its comfort, this bike has powerful
high force-amplification hydraulic disk brakes for excellent & easy, stopping power.
Another feature of this bike is its ability to be easily re-configured as a shorter wheelbase bike.
There are other types of long-distance-comfort recumbent bike designs.
