Dance | Kinetic Exploration | Community

KineoLab is a not-for-profit organization that operates at the intersection of dance education and performance, movement research, peacebuilding, and community. We primarily serve the Greater Rochester community and the Finger Lakes Region by providing access to:

*dance and movement training that teaches the necessary means to master ones own movement and

use of space and time;

*performance and communal spaces that spark and support critical thought and dialogue;

*and community-based workshops and practices that nurture the bonds that connect community as they empower and strengthen, providing a platform for the voices of those who continue to go unheard.

Looking for new inspirations to create work?
Interested in low-risk performance opportunities?

Join us for a virtual workshop, Saturday, January 29th, where we'll investigate text-based sources as choreographic inspiration. Select works from the workshop will be chosen for inclusion in a performance-exhibition at SMUSH Gallery in April.

For more info or to reserve a spot see link in comments.

Developed with support from, and presented as part of SMUSH Gallery Curatorial Fellowship in Dance.

“As young creative artists, and really as human beings, you have to be open to failure," he said. "Failure is a part of learning.... As a very old dancer, I have had many, many opportunities to fail. It happens. Projects collapse, knees blow out, money dries up. But you as artists, and as young people discovering what you care about, you must be generous to that spark inside yourself that made you love dance in the first place." ❤️❤️❤️

What does Mikhail Baryshnikov have to say to dancers starting their careers today? On Friday, he gave the keynote speech during the graduation ceremony for the inaugural class of the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance.The heart of his message: Be generous.
