It is a very happy day for one family at The House of Strength, who received keys for their new apartment at Wilson Commencement Park! Mom worked hard for 8 months—and had a baby while she was here!—to meet this goal for herself and her four children. We are so proud of her and happy for the whole family!

We want to extend HUGE thanks to the Grainger Foundation for their $5,000 gift to Sojourner Home! With this, we have $15,000 to begin the project to install a NEW PLAYGROUND for the children at The House of Strength! Stay tuned for pictures, updates and opportunities to get involved! Thank you Amy Zah from Grainger for your support of this project, and thank you to Joe Callan, our community volunteer, for helping us plan and build an amazing space for our kids to play.

THANK YOU to all who came out to celebrate transformation at our 2019 Gala for Strength on Friday, May 10! Thanks to your generous support, we raised over $70,000 to support the work we do each day serving women and families who have been impacted by homelessness, domestic violence, and other trauma. We cannot thank enough the many amazing sponsors, donors, and supporters who made this event a success. As you will see in this video, it was also a rocking good time! Cheryl Yawman has been involved with transformations at Sojourner Home for more than 17 years, having served as a Board Member and Committee Member who helped to ensure that Sojourner Home positively and proactively responded to growing and changing needs in our community over the years. We are thrilled to honor Cheryl's strong commitment to Sojourner Home with a 2019 Pillar of Strength Award at our 3rd Annual Gala for Strength: A Celebration of Transformation!

Artisan Church and its Justice Ministry have been active partners of Sojourner Home: The House of Strength for years. In addition to providing financial support, a group of volunteers comes to The House once a week to cook, serve, and enjoy dinner with the women and children we serve. We are grateful for their commitment and pleased to recognize them as a 2019 Pillar of Strength!

With generous support from Wilson Foundation, Sojourner Home at Wilson Commencement Park opened in 1991 as the first transitional housing program for women and children in Rochester. We will be honoring The Wilson Foundation as a Pillar of Strength at this year's gala. Thank you for helping to break the cycle of homelessness!
