We hear it a lot this time of year: “I thought I’d feel better by now.”

Longer days and warmer weather can help, but they don’t always bring the sense of relief people expect. And when that shift doesn’t happen, it can feel discouraging.

The truth is, feeling better isn’t something that just arrives with the season. It’s something we build, little by little, through the choices we make every day.

That might look like getting outside for a few minutes, reaching out to someone you trust, or simply acknowledging how you’re feeling without pushing it aside.

And if things still feel heavy, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

If you or someone you love is experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available. Open daily 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. We welcome all individuals and all ages.

Summer is supposed to feel light. But for some teens, it feels heavy.

Without the structure of school, some teens struggle. Some feel isolated. You may witness mood swings.

You don’t have to do it alone. We help stabilize bouts of anxiety, depression, panic attacks and even suicidal thoughts. And we connect you with resources to support you and your child. Because mental health doesn’t take a summer break, and neither do we.

If you or someone you love is experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available. Open daily 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. We welcome all individuals and all ages.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

For many, this day can bring up a mix of emotions, like gratitude, grief, reflection, or even heaviness that’s hard to name.

If today feels like a lot, taking a few quiet moments for yourself can help. A simple breath, a walk outside, or grounding in your surroundings can make a difference. These small mindfulness practices are meant to help you slow down and come back to the present moment.

Save this post for the next time you need it.

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the 2026 Minnesota Su***de Prevention Conference in Duluth. Over three days, we connected with partners from across the state, shared ideas, and learned new ways to support mental wellness and prevent su***de in our communities.

We also hosted a table, which gave us a chance to meet attendees, share resources, and have some really meaningful conversations with others doing this important work.

Thank you to the organizers and everyone working to create safer, more supportive communities across Minnesota.

We will be at Rochester Pride on May 16th!

Rochester MN Pride is a time to celebrate identity, community, and belonging. At SERCC, we believe mental health support should be inclusive, affirming, and accessible to everyone. Showing up in community spaces like Pride is one way we live out that commitment.

If you’re attending, we hope you’ll stop by, say hello, and connect with our team.

Dealing with both a mental health challenge and substance use can feel isolating, but you don’t have to go through it alone. SERCC partners with NAMI to offer the Dual Diagnosis Support Group, a safe space for individuals to share experiences, learn coping strategies, and connect with others who understand.

Whether you’re navigating your own journey or supporting a loved one, this group provides guidance, understanding, and community. This group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month at SERCC and is free to attend. No RSVP required.

Spaces are welcoming and open to all. Take the step toward support. You deserve it.

As school lets out, a lot changes for youth and families.

For many youth, that means less structure, fewer check-ins, and longer gaps between getting help. Trying to give kids freedom while still keeping some structure can be a challenge. Small things like getting outside, staying connected, and letting kids move at their own pace can make a big difference.

And if something feels off or urgent, SERCC is here to support you. If you can’t get in with your therapist, we can help bridge that gap and connect you to ongoing care.
