The Master Gardener Expo and Plant Sale is this Saturday. Of course, there will be plants, but there are also donated or curb rescued gently used garden items. Think of all the landfill space that’s saved! Come early and give these items a new home.

🐝🌼 Protect our pollinators and learn why bug zappers do more harm than good during Cornell IPM's June What's Bugging You? First Friday Webinar.

📅 Date: June 5, 2026 from noon to 12:30 p.m.

🌿 Pollinators are essential for healthy gardens, food systems and biodiversity. This session will explore how bees and other pollinators survive in urban spaces and what we can do to help them thrive. We'll also look at why outdoor bug zappers can negatively impact the beneficial insects that our ecosystems depend on.

FYI - Don’t Get Ticked!

May is National Lyme Disease Prevention Month — a reminder to stay tick aware and protect yourself and your family from tick-borne diseases.

Cornell Integrated Pest Management reminds you to:
✔️ Perform daily tick checks
✔️ Learn to recognize tick species
✔️ Remove ticks promptly and properly
✔️ Dress for ticks - tuck pants into socks and wear permethrin treated clothing

Ticks can hide in hard-to-see places like behind ears, under arms, behind knees and along the hairline — so don’t skip your daily check.

Poison oak vs poison ivy -- are they the same or different? They are different species in the same family. Both are related to poison sumac and both contain urushiol, which can cause dermatitis.

While poison oak grows as a shrub, poison ivy can grow as a vine and climb up a tree or other structure. Their leaves also look quite different. Poison oak leaves resemble white oak leaves, while poison ivy has leaves in those distinct clusters of 3!
