Our organization portrays a standard German Army front line infantry unit. The 272 Füsilier Bataillon was chosen to be recreated because this particular unit saw extensive action on all sides of the European conflict and therefore we can portray the typical German combat soldier from all fronts. Although we do not have the flashiest uniforms or equipment that N**i Germany had to offer, we do deri
ve a great deal of satisfaction from the US veteran who points at us and says, “now that’s the German I remember, a plain old infantryman!” In fact, this is one of the main purposes of our club: to research and present the common German soldier of World War II as accurately and objectively as possible. Incidentally, we must stress ‘objectively’ because we concentrate mainly on the military aspects of the German soldier. We do not support in any way or condone the politics, which directed him. Our main objectives in recreating a German unit is to provide an opposing force in reenactments of events and battles as well as study the uniforms, equipment, and lives of the soldiers of the period. Where do we attend events?
The bulk of the 272 unit membership is in upstate NY. Although the 272nd is the only German WWII unit in NY State, we join other Army, Luftwaffe and SS units all over the northeast and fight as battle groups. DM for more information on membership. Disclaimer:
Füsilier Bataillon 272 and its membership will not condone or support war and will not condone or support the political ideologies of N**i Germany. We will stress the fact that the 272 Füs. has no political stance. We do not support or condone the extremist beliefs of N**i Germany. We are not N**is! We are lovers of military history who have come together to create the past as weekend warriors. Extremist views will NOT be tolerated.
