🧺 **Cleaning Out or Making Space at Home As You Prep for the Upcoming Holidays? We Need Your Empty Baskets!** 🧺

ASL is looking for donations of empty baskets that we can fill and turn into raffle baskets for our upcoming fundraising events, like our upcoming Halloween Event - Tricks, Treats and Tails! 🎃 👻

If you have baskets tucked away in a closet, basement, or storage area that you no longer need, we would be happy to put them to good use! We’re looking for baskets in good, clean condition in a variety of shapes and sizes. Decorative boxes, reusable containers, and small crates that could hold raffle items are also welcome.

Your unused baskets can help us create beautiful raffle prizes while allowing more of the money raised to go directly toward caring for the animals at our shelter.

Please send us a private message if you have baskets to donate or would like to arrange a drop-off. Thank you for helping us give those unused baskets a new purpose! 🐾❤️

🐹💕 Five girls. One friendship squad. A whole lot of wheeking!

Meet our fabulous five—a bonded group of female guinea pigs with a mix of ages, colors, and personalities. These ladies currently live together, and they’re looking for a home where they can keep their little sisterhood intact, or at least be adopted in a pair. After all, you don’t break up the band! 🎶

They’re mostly friendly and still finding their footing after losing their home and coming to the shelter. A little patience, a gentle approach, and some tasty veggies will help them settle in and let their personalities shine. 🥬🫑

Their wish list? Room to explore, cozy places to nap, and someone who appreciates a lively conversation about when dinner will be served. Spoiler: their answer is always “now.” 😂

Ready to welcome an entire girl gang into your heart? Contact Animal Service League to learn more about adopting this sweet, squeaky quintet! 🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹

Meet Ninja! 🥷🖤🐾

With a name like Ninja, you’d expect him to be stealthy, agile and capable of impressive acrobatics. Unfortunately, Ninja has already taken the acrobatics a little too far. 😂

This handsome little all-black kitten was transferred to us from Greece Animal control after he was found injured laying under a tree. He has a broken leg and will be sporting his fashionable cast/splint for approximately 8 weeks. 😮‍💨 Our vet also prescribed something Ninja considers cruel and unusual punishment: CAGE REST. 😾

There is just one problem. Nobody told Ninja that cage rest involves actual rest. 🙃 He has the energy of approximately 14 kittens and would very much like to resume his regularly scheduled running, jumping, climbing, wrestling and general kitten parkour.
Instead, his current hobbies include:

🐾 Purring the second anyone comes near him
🥷 Attempting activities that are definitely NOT vet-approved
🐾 Demanding attention from every human within reach through cage bars
🥷 Staring longingly at freedom
🐾 Testing the structural integrity of his cage
🥷 Plotting his escape
🐾 Insisting that his leg is totally fine

Despite his temporary incarceration, Ninja is an absolute sweetheart. 🥰 He is incredibly friendly, affectionate and has a purr motor that rarely shuts off. ❤️

So for the next 8 weeks, our mission is simple: keep a young, energetic kitten quiet and entertained while convincing Ninja that he cannot run, jump, climb or perform any actual ninja moves.

We’re sure this will go very smoothly. 😂🤞 Please send Ninja your best healing wishes… and send us patience. We’re going to need it. 🤪🖤🐾

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of one of our most beloved residents, Chloe. 💜

Twelve years ago, Chloe came to Animal Service League as a frightened, feral tortoiseshell cat. She wanted nothing to do with people. She hissed, swatted, and made it very clear that she did not trust us. We couldn't touch her, and no one knew if that would ever change.

But time, patience, and unconditional love have a remarkable way of healing.

Little by little, Chloe let down her guard. The cat who once hid from human touch slowly transformed into the sweetest companion. She began seeking us out for attention, climbing into our laps, purring contentedly, and happily accepting ear scratches. She became one of our resident shelter cats—a fixture at ASL and a friend to everyone she met.

Chloe also had a gentle soul with other animals. She peacefully accepted every cat and dog that came through our doors, and there was something about her that drew other cats to her. They would curl up beside her, snuggle against her, and find comfort in her quiet presence.

Over the past few months, Chloe's health began to decline, and despite our hopes, we lost her far too quickly. The silence she leaves behind is profound. There is an emptiness in the shelter that is impossible to ignore because Chloe wasn't "just a shelter cat." She was family.

One of our greatest heartbreaks is that Chloe never found a home to call her own. But we hope that, over these last twelve years, Animal Service League became that home. We hope she knew she was safe. We hope she knew she was loved. And we hope she knew she belonged.

Thank you, Chloe, for teaching us that trust can be earned, that love can bloom in its own time, and that even the most guarded hearts can open. You touched countless lives—both human and feline—and your paw prints will remain on our hearts forever.

Run free, sweet girl. You were loved more than you'll ever know. 🌈💜

Meet our newest little survivor, Tony! ❤️

This sweet senior terrier mix was found wandering as a stray in heartbreaking condition. Estimated to be around 8 years old, he arrived at ASL severely emaciated, weighing only 4 pounds. He was badly matted, suffering from double ear infections, and one of his eyes had ruptured and required removal surgery. He is also still awaiting his neuter and much-needed dental work, including extractions.

Despite everything this tiny boy has endured, you would never know it from his spirit. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, happily accepts his medications and treatments, and melts hearts everywhere he goes. Through pain, neglect, and hardship, he has remained nothing but loving, trusting, and gentle. He truly is the best little boy. 🥰

Because he was so underweight, Tony has been on a slow and carefully monitored re-feeding plan, and we are already so proud of the progress he is making.

We can’t wait to continue sharing his journey with all of you as he heals, gains strength, and finally learns what it feels like to be safe and loved.

Welcome to the good life, little man. 🐾🐾

💔 “Peggy Sue, Peggy Sue…” 🎶🎶🎶— if only someone would sing her name again with love.

At 16 years old, Peggy Sue has lost the one person who meant everything to her. After a lifetime in a home filled with familiarity and love, she now finds herself alone… grieving, waiting, and wondering what comes next.
But even through that heartbreak, Peggy Sue’s gentle spirit shines. She leans into your hand for pets, climbs into your lap like she’s always belonged there, and fills the quiet with the softest, sweetest purrs.

Peggy Sue is also a tripod—she only has three legs and was born that way—but she gets around beautifully. Her strength is quiet, her resilience undeniable… and her heart still wide open.

She has lived peacefully with other cats and would do well in a calm, loving home where she can finally feel safe again.

At 16, she’s not asking for much. Just a warm lap. A soft place to rest. Someone to say her name with love again.

“Peggy Sue… won’t you be mine?” 💜

Please consider opening your heart to this precious girl… or sharing her story so the right person can find her.
