Last week, members of the Fairy Godmothers of Rochester board and executive committee had the honor of attending DMAC Rochester’s MAHA Project Gala to celebrate the incredible mothers graduating from the program’s inaugural class.
The Mothers A Hand Ahead (MAHA) Project, created by Dolah Me After Care Rochester (DMAC), supports new mothers through the many challenges of the postpartum period. Inspired by the lived experiences of the women who created it, MAHA offers education, compassionate guidance, practical support, and perhaps most importantly-a lasting community of connection. The program also brings much-needed attention to postpartum depression, helping to reduce the stigma around it and reminding mothers that they do not have to navigate the “fourth trimester” alone.
Fairy Godmothers of Rochester was especially honored to be part of celebrating these remarkable women. We had the privilege of styling the graduates in gowns and accessories for the gala and watching them walk the red carpet with confidence and joy was an unforgettable moment for all of us. 💖
As an organization also led by women, Fairy Godmothers believes deeply in supporting other women who are doing meaningful work in our community. We left the evening grateful to have been included and inspired by DMAC’s commitment to supporting new mothers, ensuring healthy outcomes and building awareness.
We are excited to continue this partnership and look forward to dressing, celebrating, and cheering on many more MAHA graduates in the future.
