February marks Black History month.

Black history is LGBTQ+ history. Black figures such as Marsha P. Johnson and Miss Major Griffin-Gracy led the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement but for too long were ignored and hidden from history. Numerous figures have shaped LGBTQ+ history such as Bayard Rustin, Gladys Bentley, Audre Lorde, James Baldwin, Stormé DeLarverie, Lorraine Hansberry, Ernestine Eckstein. Their lives are the weft of our community tapestry. Locally, Black Q***r activism and culture flourishes under institutions such as The MOCHA Center - Rochester , Western New York Ballroom Alliance Inc., Next Generation Men Of Transition, WAVE Woman Inc., The Lab: Creative Resource Center , and more!

This month, don't just passively honor Black Q***r history, fight for a just future. Support Black Q***r communities, uplift Black leaders, and listen to their words.
