Staff Spotlight: Kathie Hughes

Meet Kathie Hughes! Kathie grew up in Pine Island and earned an accounting information systems degree from the University of Minnesota Crookston. After working a while, she returned to school at Winona State University, earning a degree in elementary education with middle school math. She taught for five years before joining FSR and that teaching experience helped shape why she chose FSR. She saw firsthand the need for mental health services and liked FSR’s mission. She values FSR's community focus, and shared, “It’s always community centered and community first.”

As Family Service Rochester’s Billing and Accounts Receivable Specialist, Kathie sees her work as another way to help clients get the services they need and to support the staff who provide them.

She works with clients on billing questions, helps them understand insurance issues, sends bills, and works with insurance companies to resolve claims. She also works with staff to identify errors and make the billing process run more smoothly.

You can learn much more about Kathie and the values she brings to her work on our site:

We’re feeling extra grateful today! ❤️

Thank you, ABC Rochester, for naming Family Service Rochester your Business Partner of the Year! More than a partnership, we treasure the relationships we’ve built with the people who show up at FSR each week and clean our spaces, deliver Meals on Wheels, share smiles and make a difference.

We’re grateful for your hard work, generosity and the joy you bring to our community. We’re lucky to know each of you!

We are proud to recognize Family Service Rochester as ABC Rochester’s Business Partner of the Year!

ABC has partnered with Family Service Rochester for many years, and we are grateful for the opportunities this partnership provides for the people we serve. Twice a week, an ABC team cleans the Family Service Rochester buildings, where their staff are always welcoming and supportive of our team. Our team values the opportunity to work, earn money and build new skills while contributing to the community.

Our partnership goes beyond our community work crews. ABC also volunteers through Family Service Rochester’s Meals on Wheels program. We currently have three groups delivering meals each week, giving our team the opportunity to connect with others, spread a little joy and make a difference in our community.

We are so grateful for Family Service Rochester and the many ways they welcome, support and include the people we serve. This partnership creates meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities while allowing our team to contribute to the well-being of others.

Thank you, Family Service Rochester, for being such an important part of our community and for helping create a place where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and connect. We are proud to celebrate you as our Business Partner of the Year!
