Miss Julie’s School of Beauty is at the Child Advocacy Center’s Northeast Child Abuse Conference today and tomorrow to learn from some experts in the field and share about our work.

Michelle, our Rooting & Rising Coordinator, is at the tables with other organizations connecting with the community. If you’re at the conference and would like to know more about our student referral process for next year’s cohort or what our programs are up to, come find Michelle!

Did you know? Miss Julie’s has the first of its kind, in the nation, therapeutic and trauma-informed cosmetology program for survivors of s*x trafficking and those at risk of trafficking. Rooting & Rising is our community program with projects focusing on reaching folks where they are to build safe relationships.

We hope to meet you soon ✨🌱

Hello friends,

Hello friends, we wanted to share an important update with our community.

Due to low RSVP participation, we will unfortunately be canceling tonight’s Industry Circle.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to facilitate these gatherings and RSVPs help us thoughtfully prepare spaces that feel safe, intentional, and comfortable for everyone involved. We feel that we need a minimum of 5 participants to ensure each meeting reflects the level of care and outcome intended.

While tonight’s gathering will not take place, there is another opportunity to get involved this *Thursday, April 2nd at 5:30 PM EST at our first Virtual Program Committee Meeting*.

One of our hopes is to develop an Industry Subcommittee with beauty professionals who are interested in co-developing future Industry Circle gatherings and Salon Programming. For folks interested in learning more about our other committees they're welcome to attend, feel free to share this with anyone who may be interested! Our other committees are: Development, Social Outreach, Resource, and Finance.

If you are interested in learning more or exploring how you can be part of this work, we warmly invite you to join us.

Gentle reminder! Sunday, March 8th 2-6pm.

If you’re interested in learning more about street level outreach, you’re welcome to join us this Sunday afternoon at the Sibley Building for a training and then you’ll have the opportunity to head out and participate in outreach in small groups. Each group has a “lead” who has spent time in the field and will be able to support you if needed ✨

As awesome as this ribbon cutting ceremony was, and it was amazing. We had representation from government on all levels. We had the federal, state, city, and county present which speaks volumes to our school program and the school model we created.
I believe this may have left some people with the impression we are federally funded.
We are not.
The school was able to open because we had local foundations and private donors within the Rochester Community believe in who we are, and what we are doing. We want you to know we are here to serve the community and our greater nation of course, as resources allow..

We are honored to be here in Sibley Square and we thank everyone for attending and supporting this new program.

Our pilot program begins January 5 th!
