“Free Food Distribution this Saturday from 9:00 - 11:30 am. No proof of income is required but there are household requirements. Everyone is welcome. Rochester Community Church, 971 16th Street SE (by Mayo high school). This event happens the 2nd Saturday of every month. This event is not the same as Ruby's Pantry which has shut down.
We are open even when the weather is bad.”

Join us Easter Sunday, April 5th at 8:30 am or 10 am to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the church that formerly hosted Ruby’s Pantry. We are praying for what God has in store for us next as we seek His will in serving our community. Ruby’s has decided to close, but we are still here!

Even though Ruby’s Pantry has closed its doors… we just wanted to post a P.S.A. for anyone shopping the clearance aisles or visiting other types of food pantries in the future…or even as you’re cleaning out your own pantry! There is SO much education to be done about food waste. We often throw out too much, too soon. Some of you may have seen this before, but this is a great reminder! Please feel free to share this!

We will continue to pray for our guests who were served over the last 4.5 years in Rochester. We wish we had answers as to why this happened so abruptly, but we are thankful for the 20 years that Ruby’s has served so many people all over MN and surrounding states. ♥️

A nonprofit helping to feed people through low-priced food bundles is shutting down for good.

We were saddened to receive this news today (see copy of email below) from Ruby’s Pantry headquarters. We at Holy Cross have enjoyed serving the Rochester and surrounding communities as volunteers through this ministry. We will continue to hold all of you in our prayers as you seek to find alternative ways to extend your grocery budget and also to those who were helping others by blessing them with groceries each month. Over the past several months, we have been thoughtfully realigning the work, structure, and focus of Ruby’s Pantry to ensure our mission remains at the center of everything we do. As part of this process, we have worked to better align community needs with our goal of operating in the most effective and seamless way possible.

As a result, we have decided to end the operations of Ruby’s Pantry effective immediately. We recognize that this is difficult news to receive and do not take this decision lightly.

💲We received an update from Ruby’s leadership at headquarters and wanted to let you know that they will increasing the price of a Ruby’s share from $25 to $30. This is due to rising costs involved in transporting and distributing food. This increase is site-wide.

Please join us at our next distribution on Saturday, April 11th from 9-10:30 am!

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

BOIL-IN-BAG: PLACE 1-2 PRODUCT PACKAGES IN A KETTLE WITH WARM WATER. COVER KETTLE AND
BRING WATER TO A BOIL. REDUCE HEAT TO MEDIUM (SLOW BOIL) AND HEAT FOR 25-30 MINUTES UNTIL
PRODUCT REACHES A MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 160 F. DO NOT OVRLOAD THE KETTLE AS HOT WATER
WILL SPLATTER.

MICROWAVE: PLACE POTATOES IN MICROWAVEABLE CONTAINER ABD COVER, STIR POTATOES AND ROTATE
CONTAINER DURING HEATING. HEATING TIME WILL VARY DEPENDING ON POTATOE QUANTITY AND
MICROWAVE WATTAGE. HEAT IN 5 MINUTE INCREMENTS, STIR AND REPEAT UNTIL PRODUCT REACHES A
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 160F

STEAMER: PACE MASHED POTATOES IN A PAN AND SEAL TIGHTLY. HEAT FOR 15-30 MINUTES DEPENDING
ON STEAMER AND AMOUNT OF MASHED POTATOES USED. PRODUCT MUST REACH A MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE OF 160F.

INGREDIENTS: POTATOES, SKIM MILK, BUTTER(CREAM AND SALT), NATURAL ROASTED GARLIC FLAVOR,
SALT, DISODUIM PTROPHOSPPHATE(ADDED TO MAINTAIN COLOR), POTASSIUM SORBATE(ADDED TO
MAINTAIN FRESHNESS) AND SPICE.
