It's day 231 as we continue honoring our patriots from Rhode Island included in the 283 Revolutionary War Patriots who are direct ancestors of Rochelle Chapter members.

WAIT, Peleg; DAR Ancestor A120356: credited with military service as a Soldier under Captain Benjamin Gorton and Lieutenant Caleb Greene according to Bartlett’s Records of the State of Rhode Island, volume 8, 1776-1779, pages 386 and 393, Rhode Island Historical Society, Shepley Collection, page 163, and pension R110044F . He was born on October 22, 1761, in West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island, which is where he resided during the war. He died on October 17, 1847, in Petersburgh, Rensselaer County, New York. All verified descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Mary Greene.

David Maxson; DAR Ancestor A075832: credited with patriotic service for serving as a member of committees in 1775 and 1778, and as a deputy to the state assembly in 1781; according to Bartlett’s Records of the Colony of Rhode Island, Volume 7, pages 307-308, Volume 8, pages 431-414, and Volume 9, page 382. He was born on July 24, 1729, and died December 26, 1786; living at Westerly, Kings County, Rhode Island throughout his life. All descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Abigail Greenman.

Benjamin Green; DAR Ancestor A046822: credited with military service as a Private under Colonel Topham. He was born in Rhode Island on August 28, 1734. No DAR applications have been verified through this line since 1920; therefore, any future applications should expect to confirm all elements of the Patriot’s life events, service, and residence; as well as lineage to bring the application up to present day standards. All verified descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Mary, whose last name has not been verified.

Jonathan Brown; DAR Ancestor A015680: credited with military service as a Private under Captain Case and Colonel Topham according to *S12312. He was born on January 30, 1760, at North Kingston, Kings County, Rhode Island, which was his residence during the war. He died sometime after September 8, 1851, in Granville, Washington County, New York. All verified descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Ann Douglas.

It's day 227 as we continue honoring our patriots from Pennsylvania included in the 283 Revolutionary War Patriots who are direct ancestors of Rochelle Chapter members.

John Ziegler; DAR Ancestor A013754: credited with military service as a Private under Captain Samuel. He was born at an unverified location in Pennsylvania around 1750. He resided in Brothers Valley Township, Bedford County, during the war and died sometime before April 3, 1819, in Stoneycreek Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. All verified descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Elizabeth Barbara, whose surname has not been verified.

Robert Wilson; DAR Ancestor A127801: credited with patriotic service for suffering depredation according to Pennsylvania Archives, Third Series, volume 22, pages 439 and 441. He was born at an unverified location in Pennsylvania in July 1742, and resided in Armstrong Township, Westmoreland County during the war. He died sometime before June 3, 1817, in Conemaugh Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. All verified descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Esther Parks.

William Williams; DAR Ancestor A126735: credited with patriotic service. He was born in Wales around 1740, and died in Centre County, Pennsylvania around 1815.

John Wetzel; DAR Ancestor A123604: credited with military service as a Captain under Colonel Daniel McFarland in the Rangers of Monongalia County in Virginia and Pennsylvania according to Pennsylvania Archives, Third Series, volume 23, page 458, and Gwathmey’s History of Virginia in the Revolution, page 818. He was born in Switzerland in 1733. He resided in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and Monongalia County, Virginia, during the war. He died on June 11, 1786, in Wheeling, Ohio County, Virginia. All verified descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Mary Bonnet.

After recent recognition by the Rochelle Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, as the winner of the local American History Video Contest, James Chadwick was selected state winner of the Illinois DAR American History Video Contest.

Today is our 223rd consecutive honoring our chapter's Revolutionary War Patriots. Today's Patriot is:

Caleb Way; DAR Ancestor A122952: credited with patriotic service for paying the Supply Tax 1779-1781 according to Pennsylvania Archives, Third Series, volume 12, pages 158, 257 and 471. He was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania, in 1739, and died in West Caln Township of the same county sometime before November 20, 1812. All verified descendants of this Patriot were through his wife Rebecca Mendenhall.
