Yes. PSEG has come through Rochelle Park and many other towns with their ruthless V chop of the towns older trees. It’s ugly and unacceptable. The Township and Shade Tree Volunteers are arranging a meeting with PSE&G to attempt to curtail their drastic trimming. Planting under power lines is inevitable and thankfully we are planting smarter with trees that will not reach into the power lines when they mature. We want to thank everyone for alerting us and being so supportive.

🌳🌳Sunday Evening “tree nerd” post! Each new tree planted in Rochelle Park gets a ROOT BARRIER installed to block the tree roots from going in to the sidewalk! It’s an extra precaution we take when the trees get planted! You can even see them with the naked eye like in these examples from the Berdan St plantings.

Great day for Berdan Street with 35 new trees all planted by with ROOT BARRIERS (see picture 8 on how root barriers protect the sidewalk). You can see the list of types of trees planted and all were selected for their appropriate size.

💥💥Breaking News! The Rochelle Park Tree 🌲 Inventory has been completed! Rochelle Park has approximately 800 trees and over 2000 vacant spots for new trees. You can see how much CO 2 they capture, how many gallons of water they keep out of our sewers and streets and how clean they make our air. The inventory was paid for by a grant from the .dep Community Forestry program. We have work to do in Rochelle Park to establish the “Park” in our town name!
