The new year is bringing exciting new changes to our local Habitat for Humanity!
We would like to announce that our local affordable housing ministry, previously known as Crawford County Habitat for Humanity, is transitioning away from Habitat for Humanity and is now The Crawford County Fuller Center for Housing.
Why Partner with The Fuller Center for Housing?
•Community-Focused Funding: We want to keep as much of our crucial funding within the local community, rather than sending it to corporate headquarters.
•Local Control: We seek to maintain local governance with a partner who understands the needs of small, rural communities like ours.
•Upholding Our Values: We are committed to preserving the Christian roots of our organization.
Millard and Linda Fuller founded Habitat for Humanity in 1976 as a Christian initiative to provide families in need with simple, affordable housing. They believed that everyone deserves a decent place to live. In 2005, after facing challenges with the corporate leadership of Habitat for Humanity, the Fullers established The Fuller Center for Housing to return to their original grassroots, Christian principles and to distance themselves from corporate and bureaucratic influences.
What Does This Mean for Our Community?
•Our mission remains unchanged. We continue to provide support and assistance to families in need of simple, decent, and affordable housing.
•Local families will still actively participate in the building process, contributing sweat equity alongside community volunteers and repaying the costs of materials on affordable, interest-free terms.
•We remain a non-profit organization. The repayments from families will stay within the local community, allowing us to assist even more families in need of decent, affordable housing.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the community for your continued support as we navigate this transition to better serve our local families.
