The Lincoln Trail community is built on people who believe in giving back, and the Jonathan Acree Award is a beautiful example of that impact in action.

We are proud to recognize this year’s scholarship recipients: Trevor Papantonopoulos, Josiah Hatfield, and Trace Riggle (not pictured). These students represent the future of our community, and we are honored to celebrate their hard work and accomplishments.

This scholarship is especially meaningful because it reflects the generosity and heart of community members like Jonathan and Danielle Acree, who have both been positively impacted by Lincoln Trail and the strong community surrounding it. Their decision to invest back into students creates opportunities that will continue to change lives for years to come. Also pictured is Jonathan & Danielle's son, Ace — a reminder that giving back is a legacy that inspires the next generation.

To the Acree family, thank you for your generosity, your belief in our students, and your commitment to making a lasting difference. And to Trevor, Josiah, and Trace — congratulations on this well-deserved honor. We cannot wait to see all that you accomplish at Lincoln Trail and beyond!

We are incredibly proud of these four outstanding Process Technology students for representing Lincoln Trail College at the North American Process Technology Alliance’s Troubleshooting Skills Competition in Texas.

After earning a spot among only 14 teams in the United States selected to compete, these students spent three challenging days showcasing their technical knowledge, teamwork, and problem-solving skills against some of the nation’s top Process Technology programs.

During the trip, the students also had the opportunity to connect with representatives from the local Galveston area, meet with professionals from Marathon Petroleum, and visit with alumni who have continued their careers in petroleum engineering. These experiences provided valuable insight into the industry and helped strengthen the connection between our students, the foundation, the college, and industry partners.

Overall, this was an incredible experience and a wonderful opportunity for professional growth, networking, and representing our college at a national level. Congratulations to these students on an amazing accomplishment!

Illinois Eastern Community Colleges mourns the death of former Chief Executive Officer Terry L. Bruce, who passed away on April 17, 2026. Mr. Bruce’s decades of leadership and public service left a lasting mark on the institution, the region, and the Illinois community college system.

Bruce served as CEO of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges from 1996 until his retirement in 2019. Over those 23 years, he helped guide the district through a period of significant transformation while maintaining a strong commitment to students, employees, and the communities served by IECC.

We are incredibly proud to share that our Process Technology students have been selected as one of only 12 teams advancing to Texas to compete in this prestigious competition!

This is an amazing accomplishment and a true reflection of their hard work, dedication, and talent. We can’t wait to see all they achieve on this exciting journey. Good luck—we’re cheering you on every step of the way!
