Don’t stress! Leadership Crawford County learned all about different parts of the agricultural industry today and how they manage the unknowns. We visited class sponsor Lincolnland Agri-Energy, LLC and heard from Eric Mosbey, then made our way to Moonshine Store for lunch sponsored by Casey State Bank before heading to Annapolis Grain Co. and Guyer Seed Sales.

Kate Pleasant from Marathon Petroleum Corporation finished off the day with stress management professional development training.

We only have one session left in this year’s class before our May 20 graduation ceremony!

Thanks as always to our sponsors and partners First Robinson Savings Bank, N.A., LLAE, Illinois Eastern Community Colleges and Marathon Petroleum Corporation.

Leadership Crawford County had a full and inspiring day of learning about the people and systems that keep our community strong.

We began the day with an educational visit from our county school superintendents, who shared insights about the opportunities and challenges facing our local schools and the important role education plays in shaping Crawford County’s future.

Participants also spent time exploring what it means to inspire and motivate others during a leadership session led by Kate Pleasant of Marathon Petroleum, focusing on how leaders can create energy, purpose, and connection within their teams and communities.

The group then visited the Crawford County Senior Center to learn more about the many services they provide for our residents, including their vital Meals on Wheels program that supports seniors across the county.

We wrapped up the day with a conversation about local government, hearing from Robinson Mayor Mike Shimer and Crawford County Clerk Beckie Staley about how city and county government work together to serve our communities.

Each stop throughout the day highlighted the collaboration, leadership, and service that help Crawford County thrive. We’re grateful to all of the leaders who took time to share their knowledge and experiences with this year’s class.

Thanks, as always, to our partners and sponsors: First Robinson Savings Bank, N.A., Lincolnland Agri-Energy, LLC, Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Crawford County Development Association and Illinois Eastern Community Colleges. Special thanks to The City of Robinson for hosting us at the Civic Center today!

Leadership Crawford County | Going My Way

Today’s session was all about navigating the road ahead—especially when the path includes conflict, tough conversations, and community impact.

The day featured a conflict management session led by Kate Pleasant, giving participants practical tools for managing differences and staying aligned with purpose.

We also stepped into local government with a visit to the Crawford County Courthouse, where participants observed live court proceedings and gained insight into how our judicial system serves the county. Thanks to Circuit Clerk Angie Reinoehl for coordinating our visit!

We learned more about economic and community development through a presentation from Crawford County Development Association, led by Executive Director Resa Shaner, who also served as today’s LCC Board Sponsor, with support from Haley Bricker.

We wrapped up the day with hands-on service, learning about and supporting the Nutrition on Weekends (NOW) program with Kirbie Ackman. Participants prepared meal bags that will be distributed to schools across the county—an impactful reminder that leadership is about showing up and giving back.

A huge thank you to our partners who made the day possible:

This month’s Leadership Crawford County session was all about strategic thinking, goal achievement, and maintaining motivation—skills that matter both personally and professionally.

Participants enjoyed a guided tour of the Lincoln Trail College campus, gaining insight into the impact LTC has on our region, and also visited First Robinson Savings Bank, N.A. where they learned more about leadership and community-centered banking in action.

The day wrapped up with hands-on service, as the class supported The Arts at Lincoln Trail College at the LTC Theatre Department as part of their philanthropic project—putting leadership into action through service and collaboration.

A great day of learning, connection, and giving back to the community we’re proud to call home.

Thanks to our partners and sponsors Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Lincolnland Agri-Energy, LLC, FRSB, Crawford County Development Association and Illinois Eastern Community Colleges.

As one of our participants said this week, “we packed a lot into one day!” Our leaders found themselves touring Hershey and meeting with Plant Manager Nina Moore and learning from our own John Furby, a Senior HR Business Partner at the plant. They were also able to visit and tour Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s Robinson site and take on some professional development training about Operational Rhythms and Building Strong Teams.

We closed the day at First Robinson Savings Bank, N.A. where our fearless leaders Darby and Kyle Dishong talked about creating a new non-profit called Crawford County Leadership Alliance which will “house” Leadership Crawford County and work to support other leadership growth missions in our communities.

Thank you to our partners and sponsors: FRSB, Marathon, Lincolnland Agri-Energy, LLC, Crawford County Development Association and Illinois Eastern Community Colleges.
