“I became the butterfly. I got out of the cocoon and I flew.” ~Lynn Redgrave

I wanted to give a little extra love to our sweet dear Beryl (JC: Vintage Beauty)… She’s kind of been lost in the mama Amy/baby Tyler shuffle, but she’s really come out of her shell and is blossoming in front of our very eyes. And I wanted you all to see what your donations help us do.

Because our QT is small Beryl has to spend her days in the stall (under a fan, thank you Katherine!) while Amy and Tyler get room to roam and stretch their legs. Then she spends the evenings and overnights out of the stall roaming and stretching her legs. But yesterday after he bath she really sparkled while out exploring in the front yard. And she showed us her happiness. We think there’s a baby in there and we will check when she’s out of QT, but as of now no signs one is imminent.

She’s really like a different horse and a perfect reminder why we do what we do.

We received $10 in donations since yesterday (thank you Penelope!) leaving us still $3,098.19 from goal.

We are definitely in the “in a pinch” situation now and we really could use the help. I

"You can't be angry when there are bubbles." ~Unknown

Amy (JC: Perfect Art) and Beryl (JC: Vintage Beauty) had their own day of beauty today!

For one reason or another since they arrived two weeks ago we have been unable to give the girls a nice makeover. Lots of rain, having babies, etc. really put a c***k in those plans. So today the weather was good and it wasn’t too hot yet so the girls got their scrubbing and wow, what a difference!

Little Tyler decided to get in on the action and got a little shower in the process, too. I think he’ll be another water baby here, he likes it already.

Beryl has put on a ton of weight and Amy is starting to now that she’s not sick and is eating a lot. After baths this morning they all got to roam around more in the front yard to stretch their legs, something I hope to do for them more until they transition to an area out of QT with more room.

Don’t they all look fantastic?

We received $60 in donations since yesterday (thank you Tina and Jane!) leaving us still $3,108.19 from goal. We are staring down the barrel of July’s hay fundraiser and it’s getting a little dodgy now.

If you want to help with our hay/baby mama vet fund, links are below. We ordered more hay to be delivered today and we’d≥/ like to pay for it.

Thank you so much as always.

"Let the stars light the way to where your dreams can be found awaiting your arrival." ~Anthony T. Hinks

Our sweet baby Tyler… he’s doing so well. He’s happy and kind and funny. He loves it when you blow in his nosey and scratch his t***y. And his little toofs are growing in.

Amy is doing good, too. She and Beryl will finally get baths tomorrow. And soon, everyone will be out of quarantine and get more room…

He really is a miracle…

We didn’t receive any donations today leaving us still $3,168.19 from goal. Tomorrow is June 20 and we’re set to start July in five days and we hope to not start off in the hole.

If you want to help with our hay/baby mama vet fund, links are below. We will need more hay this weekend and we’d like to pay for it.

Thank you, sincerely and always.

“You'll find that life is still worthwhile, if you just smile.” ~Charlie Chaplin

Rocky (JC: Very Small Pony)

This little one-eyed wonder.

He’s been with us nearly five years and is actually happy as a clam at high tide.

After spending nine months in the slaughter pipeline someone bought him for $500 and sent him here.

In addition to his eye (a birth defect) he also has an old spinal injury so he can’t be ridden and he now spends his days with his lady Marigold, Gladys and Glynis the donkeys, Bella the TB, a smattering of goats and the LGDs. We think he’s about 15 or so, he had a hard life before he got here so we love that he enjoys his retirement so much.

Rocky has always had a very thick mane (as ponies do) and we know he’s hot under there, so we put a fan out for him and he stands in front of it all day. And to thank us he rewarded us with this enormous smile. He is such a lovely creature, truly.

(We will resume with more baby Tyler spam this afternoon, he continues to do so well and mama Amy is eating and feeling good, finally.)

Since yesterday we received $100 in donations (thank you Sure Betties!) leaving us still $3,168.19 from goal. We know all rescues are struggling, especially the small ones like ours. We just want to feed these buggers.

"I'm glad it's finally hot enough to complain about how hot it is." ~Unknown (or me, today)

We temporarily interrupt today’s baby spam to bring you a weather update!

*Some* creatures are smarter than others… while most of the herd stands out IN the heat of the day, sharpies Evelyn (JC: Underground) and Dorothy (JC: Dimes From Heaven) found the misters to keep cool. Aren’t they so cute?

With the heat index pushing 115 or higher today, everyone has access to misters. I just wish more of these doofaroonis would follow Evelyn and Dorothy’s example.

I remain hopeful…

Since yesterday we received $630.28 in donations (thank you Kristina, Pamela, Cynthia, Karen!) leaving us still $3,268.19 from goal.

So we are chipping away with your help, thank you. We’d still sure like to get to goal before we start fundraising for July…

“A baby animal's boundless energy encourages us to embrace the vitality and zest for life.” ~Unknown

Tyler (’26 by Laurie’s Rocket)…

More baby spam!

Now entering his fourth day of life, our little stinker is loaded with boundless (and bounding!) energy. It’s hard for him to be in quarantine with his mama, the area is fairly small but we’ve been able to open it up a lot and give him room to stretch his legs and jump around more. And a soon he’ll have a big field to run around in.

He’s so brave, too. He’s afraid of nothing and it melts my cold, dead heart when he makes his way over to me to visit and for scratches every time I go near him. And he lets me smooch his tiny nosey. Gah, my heart!

He is a friendly but typical baby, he’s gets sassy and when he does he is itching to give me a good kick (he’s realized those back legs work and can be used as weapons) but we’ve had the discussion that he should not try so hard. He’s mulling it over.

Amy (JC: Perfect Art) is doing really well, eating us out of house and home and finally showing us her friendly personality. She was always nice but now that she feels well we know how exceptionally sweet she is.

Yesterday we received $10
in donations (thank you Jane!) leaving us still $3,407.19 from goal. Our July fundraiser is set to start in less than two weeks so we’re certainly struggling to reach June’s goal before.

“The innocence of a baby animal can teach us the true meaning of purity.” ~Unknown

Tyler (’26 by Laurie’s Rocket)… He’s a little stinker who loves his butt scratched. He is friendly and sweet and has no fear of humans at all. He’s curious and smart, too, all up in your business always.

And he loves to test those long spindly legs, he ran smack into the rake leaning on the wall yesterday when I was stripping his stall before the rain and it stunned him for a second. But just a second, he moved quickly on to the next romp…

He and mama Amy (JC: Perfect Art) are inside today, rain showers are possible all day. It is cooler, thankfully. I felt bad for the poor kid wondering if he was thinking he was born right into hell it’s been so hot since he arrived. Amy is finally eating all of her meals, too, thank God.

Beryl (JC: Vintage Beauty) is out and roaming and has her hay in the stall under the awning in case of showers and is keeping an eye on her best friend and new little nephew.

I am trying to train my mind to keep from going to the dark side. They closed the border literally the day after we secured the mares, I can’t bear to think of this baby being born on the lot. Literally hurts my heart. I am so grateful he is happy and healthy and that the mamas are making their way to that.

Yesterday we made some good progress on our June hay goal/baby mama vet bill with $625 in donations (thank you J, Frieda, Megan and Wish!) but we are still $3,417.19 from goal. Hay was delivered yesterday and we’d like to get it paid for. And our July fundraiser is only two weeks away so we’re certainly struggling to reach goal before.

"A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on." ~Carl Sandburg

Amy (JC: Perfect Art) and baby… Day two!

Our wonderful, perfect little prince. I forgot how quickly they grow and figure things out. He is much more sure-footed today and is enjoying some time out in the yard.

He clacked at me a little at breakfast, but it didn’t last long. He was all up in my business as I cleaned his stall and gave mama her breakfast, hay and fresh water. He loves neck scratches and nose kisses.

It’s hot, it’s going to be hot for a while (minus a slight rain cooldown tomorrow) so we have the fans going and there’s a ton of shade in the back to keep him cool while his body figures out how to regulate its temperature.

We need a name. Someone had a suggestion and I wanted to run it by you all.

In the hoopla of bringing in the girls, we blew past the one-year anniversary of losing Tyler’s Sensation. Though he was only here a day and a half, the mark he left on not only us here at The Bridge but all of you will last forever.

What if we call our little man Tyler in his honor? He will, of course, get a proper Jockey Club name (to be decided by all of us) but he needs an everyday name.

What do ya’ll think?

We still haven’t reached our June hay goal and since yesterday we received $100 (thank you Pamela!) We’re counting our blessings that overall we have a healthy baby, but expenses are creeping higher than normal because of his poor, emaciated and sick mama and her BFF Beryl (JC: Vintage Beauty).

With our now $990 vet bill (including Thursday’s visit) and our hay drive, we are $4,042.19 from goal with $2,947.8 raised so far this month. We are having hay delivered today before the rain moves in tonight and we’d like to pay for it.

He is so smart and happy and healthy.
