“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.” ~Omar Khayyam
Ain’t that the truth? As hard as it can be, this may be the best time in my life so far.
I am, for all intents and purposes, an old lady now. But I am more fit and have more stamina (and one less kidney! Ha!) than I have in probably my adult life. The bone spur in my left knee and two bum shoulders (four surgeries!) sometimes argue about that, but overall… and my doctor told me I need to gain weight now. Go figure.
So this is our awesome hay guy doing what he does. I suspect he’s probably given us more free hay than he’d care to let on, he’s a horse person. He still has to make a living, but he is definitely generous.
He brought the grass bales on Tuesday and then today delivered the alfalfa. That should last through the weekend. Everyone does so well on the alfalfa, but especially the harder keepers (Hunter, Pru, Evelyn, Stormy, Hazel I am talking to you!) We prefer the round alfalfa bales for our feeders, but they’re harder to haul in to Cen Tex so we wait. Probably at the end of the month.
And they do not waste a single stem of the alfalfa… (note the dead pasture, too. Although we may get some rain — maybe a quarter inch — overnight after a little drizzle today! Yay!)
So since yesterday we received another $850 toward the September hay fund goal and we are now at $4,792 of $6,000 raised so far. Thank you so much Lori, Cheryl and Kimberly S.) and everyone else who has helped. We still need to chip away at our past due and for our vet, but we made great progress this week…
Thank you all, from the bottom of my grateful heart…
