We've accomplished a lot in the 8 months since the 2026 FEBT Campaign was launched.

- Laying over 2,000 ft of track in Saltillo.
- Continuing progress on Saltillo Station's interior.
- Beginning the final stages of Boxcar 174's and Combine 14's restorations.
- Completing the restoration of all windows in the Main Shop Buildings in Rockhill.
- Continuing the restoration of Storehouse 2.
- Completing the restoration of the Blacksmith's forge.
and even more...

All thanks to your incredible generosity raising $412.207 so far

But we're not stopping here, not by a long shot.

We still have over 5,000 more feet of track to lay between our efforts in Saltillo and the ROW between Pogue and Prices Bridge. The Saltillo Station interior still needs to be completed. Storehouse 2 still needs more siding, paint and stain, And there is still 4 months remaining 2026 FEBT Campaign.

We hope you continue on this journey with us and consider making a donation to the 2026 FEBT Campaign at store.febt.org/donate to help accelerate restoration efforts from Rockhill to Saltillo and even in Robertsdale.

How soon, is soon?

On Tuesday, June 9th, Project Lead Charlie and FEBT Reunion and Social Media Coordinator Al, met at the paint shop. The goal? To make the remaining list of things FEBT needs to finish on Combine 14, even shorter.

And that's exactly what they did.

Countless exterior areas received paint or paint touch ups and the last of the windows were installed in the car, in the end passenger doors. All in the name of progress.

So much progress in fact, that we are able to make the following announcement.

It's taken over 21 years to get to this point, but the FEBT Work Weekend on June 27th and 28th...

Will be the final push on FEBT's side of Combine 14.

That's right, the light at the end of the tunnel is finally here.

So come one, come all and help us get FEBT's side of Combine 14 complete... and hand the car over to the capable hands of the EBT's Mechanical Department for truck and brake work!

All you need to do is join FEBT as member and sign up to volunteer at febt.org/volunteer

So how soon is soon? It's just gotten sooner...

We continue our look back on FEBT's Spring 2026 Work Week, with today's look being at the work accomplished by our Combine crew on Combine 14.

Our volunteers were able to make a ton of progress over the course of the week; working on everything from windows to the baggage compartment floor. The baggage door guards were fitted and installed, and even 7 of the 8 seats were fully fitted and installed to there frames.

Like with the Boxcar, there is still some work that remains before the car is handed over to the EBT's capable mechanical department, including:

- Exterior and Interior Paint Touch Ups
- Paint passenger compartment floor one more time
- Install a small amount of trim
- Installing the final seat
- A small amount of electrical work

So when will Combine 14 be done, well one only needs to read the message on the baggage door in order to find out. However, that does mean that there is still a chance for you to help get this 1880s passenger car over the finish line!

You just need to join FEBT as a member, sign up to volunteer at: febt.org/volunteer and remember to join us on June 27th and 28th for our next work weekend!

"Have Spike Maul, Will Travel" has been an on going moto of the combined track crew consisting of Full Time EBT Track Personnel and FEBT Track Volunteers and today was no exception.

A round of great late Spring weather, greeted the crew at 8 am this morning as they gathered to tackled a long awaited project; the rebuilding of the track leading to the Coal Tipple at the South end of Rockhill Yard.

The Full Time EBT Track Personnel will be back in the near future to ballast and level the track and while the track does not extend beyond the Coal Tipple itself, it is certainly long enough to allow for the tipple to be used once more.

On a special note, no your eyes do not deceive you, Santa himself paid us a visit today, trading the red suit and hat, for work clothes and a hard hat! Just goes to show that you never know who will show up to help out!

And rest assured, the combined crew will be back in Saltillo in the near future!

The combined crew could not make this kind of progress, without your incredible support of FEBT's Annual Campaign. Which with your help has raised over $400,000 this year alone!

If you would like to make a donation to help keep the progress going, we encourage you to visit store.febt.org/donate and if you want to find out more about all projects FEBT's Annual Campaign supports, then visit febt.org/campaign

And if you want to help on the March to Saltillo more directly, or help with any of FEBT's other projects, then be sure to join FEBT as member and sign up to volunteer at febt.org/volunteer

The combined crew of full time EBT Track Personnel and FEBT Track Volunteers made great strides during FEBT's Spring 2026 Work Week, especially on the March to Saltillo.

Before the week began, there was only 350 feet of track spiked up and a further 100 feet of track laid out, as well as a switch, in front of the Saltillo Station. Well by the end of the week, that had turned to roughly 2000 feet of combined trackage across the mainline and station siding.

In fact, so much track had been built that not only did they finish their task a half a day early, but it allowed for the EBT's "Flying Devil" Speeder to make an appearance for a couple of extended demonstration runs!

That's not all however, the combined crew even found time to help the Young Easties insert ties into Track 6 in the Rockhill Yard!

The combined crew could not make this kind of progress, without your incredible support of FEBT's Annual Campaign. Which with your help has raised over $400,000 this year alone!

Back in May, FEBT received a $10,000 bequest donation from the estate of long-time member John Snyder. In addition to the cash donation, John’s estate donated multiple items to the FEBT auction that was held at the 2026 FEBT Reunion.

In addition to all of that, John’s extensive model train collection will be sold through an on-line auction, and John generously specified that 40% of the proceeds from the auction will go to the FEBT.

The auction is open until June 16. The link to the auction is: https://kleinfelters.hibid.com/catalog/745971/tues---june-16--2026--online-only-specialty-train-sale. There are many EBT models among the collection, so we encourage you to look for items of interest. And remember, “It’s a fundraiser!”

Our thanks to go out to John for generously considering the FEBT in his will.

On the subject of more glass to work on for our Window Crew, let's take a look back on their efforts during FEBT's Spring 2026 Work Week!

From cleaning windows, to painting the last remaining window on the Roundhouse's west, to even installing several windows in the locomotive shop and foundry. Our window crew truly did it all through out the work week.

Roughly 25% of the windows remain across the entire Rockhill Yard Complex, meaning there is still time for you to join the intrepid crew and help shed light on even more history.

All you need to do is join FEBT as a member and sign up to volunteer at: febt.org/volunteer and don't forget to join us on June 27th and 28th

The "Glass Rattlers" are our dedicated window crew, working tirelessly to repair and replace hundreds of windows and thousands of panes of glass all over Rockhill. A milestone in the history of the Glass Rattlers was made during our recent weeklong restoration session. Our goal in 2002, when window repairs were started, was to restore all the outside windows in the main shop complex buildings (Boiler House, Machine Shop, Boiler Shop, Locomotive Shop and Car Shop.) We finally accomplished that on Wednesday June 3rd 2026, almost exactly 24 years after our firs session in June 2002. Thanks to everyone that helped make it possible over those 24 years. Just one of the many dreams coming true at the East Broad Top Railroad!

Please take a moment to thank the Glass Rattlers for their tireless work.

The Rattlers have plenty more windows to repair in other EBT buildings and are in need of volunteers to keep the work rolling. If you are interested in volunteering, visit https://febt.org/volunteer/
