BOOSTING THE SIGNAL:

Join us on Dec 6 or 7 for an evening of fun and political action at a special screening of "Heightened Scrutiny"

This new documentary follows ACLU civil rights lawyer Chase Strangio as he battles at the Supreme Court for transgender adolescents' access to medically necessary healthcare. With the June 2025 United States Supreme Court decision allowing states to ban gender-affirming care for transgender youth, this film is an urgent call to action against bigotry and injustice.

This screening will be followed by a panel discussion and call to action to help protect access to this life-saving care in NJ. The event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $20 per person to support the Sam and Devorah Foundation for Transgender Youth (in Maplewood) and Trans Equity Coalition (in Princeton). Donations will be collected at the door.

“Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence. I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. With so many seeking to erase transgender people—sometimes in the most brutal ways possible—it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.” —Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) founder Gwendolyn Ann Smith
As PFLAG members and supporters—as human beings—it is imperative that we boldly, loudly, and publicly honor those we have lost to anti-trans violence and hate. Our trans loved ones deserve to thrive and be their authentic selves, not to be the victims, scapegoats, and targets of those with cruel political agendas. PFLAG will continue to fight for equal rights and access to medical care, and advocate side-by-side with our trans loved ones so that they are safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved in every aspect of their lives. 🏳️‍⚧️
Here are some actions you can take this Trans Day of Remembrance:
• Reach out to your local PFLAG chapter to find TDOR events in your area. (Find your chapter at pflag.org/find)
• Take action against trans violence, by joining Fighting For Our Pride. This grassroots, nationwide campaign focuses on advocacy at the state and local levels where the most harmful legislation against our trans loved ones is being passed. Learn more about the campaign, and take the pledge at pflag.org/FightingForOurPride
