We are so excited to initiate this project to fight pad poverty in India. We are doing this by spreading awareness and hosting a walkathon next weekend on May 28th to raise money! This is the first banner that we are able to hang up in Sonagachi Kolkata, India! S.H.I.N.E.’s Pen&Pads project was created by students from Robbinsville High School to focus on menstrual heath & hygiene (MHH) management as it touches upon major aspects of a woman’s life such as the social, health, economic, equality, and education. In order to help poor and marginalized women and girls, our aim is to spread awareness in rural areas, fight pad poverty by donating dignity packs, send menstruating girls back to school, and employ women in micro factories to produce eco-friendly pads. To spread this message and seek support for our cause we are organizing a walkathon on May 28th, Saturday in Robbinsville, NJ. May 28th is the Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness (MHHA) Day.
