The National Park Service has recently lost more than 1,000 staff members who maintain and clean parks, educate visitors and perform other park functions. Now more than ever, the call is greatest to help protect, defend, and maintain these treasured spaces.
Please continue to support our National Parks by visiting, stopping by the information and visitor centers, and gift shops. Take advantage of the education and learning opportunities offered to the public by NPS and ask a park official or Ranger about volunteer opportunities within the park. If camping or hiking, help us do our part in keeping these spaces clean from trash and litter left behind.

Feel free to send pictures of your National Park adventures or efforts to help protect and keep them sacred to [email protected] to show our support as Sacred Trail Society members for our National Parks.

You can't be for the people and not for the land, we're one and the same.

Protect our sacred spaces, from the trails to the wilds, rivers, mountains, valleys, and plains.

Look, learn, lead.

Look for ways to become active in your local communities environmental conservation efforts and identify where needs are present to make a positive impact.

Learn how to utilize the resources established to help protect our sacred spaces and familiarize yourself with current environmental laws and protections on local, state, and federal levels.

Lead by staying informed, vigilant, and getting involved. And keep an eye out for Sacred Trail Society nationwide events and information coming this year.

This time of year, many families prepare to gather around a table and a meal to speak on and to share what they're thankful for. Let's not forget how much thanks, appreciation, and gratitude we owe the earth. That meal, our health, our families and friends, our very lives, none of which would exist without what the earth provides.
We can talk about it, but we can walk about it too. We can express our thanks and our gratitude with action.
I encourage you to get outside with your friends and family this Thanksgiving, to a local park, trail, Greenway, or any space we are fortunate enough to still share together and clean up. This doesn't have to be an all day event, but it's a great way to spend an hour or two together and with helping hands, giving thanks for the earth and all it provides by caring for and being responsible for our part in this relationship.

We'll be there with donations, and hope you will if you're local and able to make it out!

We'll be there with donations, and hope you will if you're local and able to make it out!

During this year’s Wood, Fire, Smoke festival in Downtown Lenoir, we have partnered with United Way of Caldwell County and are collecting donations for Hurricane Helene Relief.

Each person who donates an item, big or small, will be entered in to a raffle to receive 1 of 200 gift cards from our Downtown Lenoir small businesses. See earlier post for donation recommendations.

If your donations are small enough to carry on sight please park in a designated parking lot and walk your donations in to the festival footprint. If you have a whole car load—don’t worry! We have volunteers to help!

There will be a closed lane down Harper Avenue by the 902 Harper Avenue, County building parking lot. Pull up to this road closure and a volunteer will let you through and direct you where to go to get help unloading.

Can’t wait to see you tomorrow, friends!
