From railroad roots to a rapidly growing tech presence, our Leadership Roanoke Valley February Program Day offered a thoughtful look at how innovation continues to shape the Roanoke Region.

Throughout the day, we had the opportunity to hear from influential speakers who are leading the way in our region’s tech evolution. They shared insight, experience, and a vision for what’s ahead. We explored how the local technology sector is influencing education, attracting talent, and creating new opportunities that strengthen our economy and community.

It was also a chance to reflect on where we’ve been, the challenges we face today, and how we can work together to build a more inclusive, forward-looking future. These conversations matter, and they continue to position Roanoke as a place where innovation and community can thrive.

January’s Leadership Roanoke Valley program day with our Small Business Development team was all about one powerful word: scrappy.

Thinking differently, adapting quickly, and leading with resilience.

From candid conversations to practical insight, the day challenged our class to stretch their resourcefulness, embrace flexibility, and lean into the kind of creativity that drives small businesses forward.

Big ideas don’t always require big budgets, sometimes they just require leaders willing to roll up their sleeves and figure it out. 💡

Last week, some truly impressive leaders at Roanoke’s 40 Under 40 were celebrated and let’s just say, the future of our region is in very good hands. 👏

We were especially excited to see several of the honorees are alumni of Leadership Roanoke Valley. Watching LRV graduates continue to grow, lead, and make meaningful impact across our community is exactly why this program matters so much.

Last night was one to remember as we gathered with our Leadership Roanoke Valley Alumni for a cozy Winter Soirée ❄️✨

It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces, welcome new alumni into the mix, and celebrate the relationships that continue long after the program year ends. Even on a chilly evening, the room was warm with great conversation, shared stories, and a strong sense of community that makes LRV so special.

A huge thank you to the LRV Alumni Committee - Kaitlyn Van Buskirk, LaTron Brown, Kaelyn Spicker and Michael Crouse - for their hard work and thoughtful planning that made this evening such a success.
