The Eastern Region would like to recognize Adam Searcy for his leadership and the work he does every day to support safe and efficient air traffic operations across the Eastern Service Area.
Adam serves as the Air Traffic Services Instrument Flight Procedures Representative for the Eastern Service Area. His role is largely about coordination, bringing together air traffic facilities, Flight Procedures Teams, and offices within the Operations Support Group under Mission Support Services to navigate the process of requesting, designing, and implementing instrument flight procedures. He helps ensure required processes are followed while also making sure the needs and operational realities of the facilities are represented.
Developing an instrument flight procedure typically takes about two years, but Adam was part of a team formed to address a safety concern impacting four facilities. With strong coordination and support from ATSAP, the team designed and published a major procedure in just 12 months. The procedure improved traffic flows into Long Island and Southern Connecticut and now supports operations at 12 airports. As Adam noted during the effort, “When you get everyone working together early, the results can come together much faster.”
Adam continues to support facilities as the instrument flight procedure process evolves, including changes implemented in December 2024 and the ongoing development of the brand new Air Traffic System, which have added new challenges to an already demanding workload.
