It is time for the citizens of the Roanoke Valley to come together to reform the way that our city is governed. Citizens Convention aims to empower the people of Roanoke to address low wages, community development and community revitalization. We will set a platform that will allow motivated citizens to voice their concerns and help to develop initiatives to implement true change and growth in our
neighborhoods and our city as a whole. We seek to find candidates for the city council election on May 3rd that will work in alignment with the needs of their citizens. Our goal is to reestablish and affirm that political leaders are voices of the people, properly governed by the people. We will develop and maintain a working relationship and dialogue between city officials and the citizens of Roanoke. We strive to set a new precedent for accountability to ensure that the goals and the voices of our community are addressed in a way that best serves the interests of the entire body of Roanoke residents. Our work will continue beyond this and other election cycles to ensure that, in the fullness of time, we find ourselves living in a community worthy of these efforts.
