Thank you to everyone who attended our meeting this evening!
This is the presentation from the meeting but we also filmed it for those unable to attend and will be sharing it in segments over the next week or so. RCC-PTA wants to make getting involved accessible for everyone. We’d love feedback if this is helpful for you.

See you tonight!

Our October meeting is October 21st at 5:30 p.m. Please plan to be there, as we will talk about compliance, membership drives, and advocacy.

An email was also sent to all PTA officers listing the RCC-PTA board member assigned to help you with your school’s PTA compliance, along with their email address.

We welcome all area PTAs/PTSAs to our meetings, not just Roanoke City.
We hope to see you there!

Our mission is simple: “To make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.”

With shrinking school budgets and growing concerns about equity in education, being part of your school’s PTA is more important than ever.

Joining PTA means staying informed about what’s happening in your child’s school, having a voice in decisions that affect students, and finding meaningful ways to make a difference.

And the best part is: You don’t have to do it all to make an impact.

Whether you volunteer regularly, advocate for public education, help behind the scenes, or simply become a member, your participation matters. There are plenty of ways to get involved, even if you can’t attend meetings or events in person.

PTA isn’t about how much time you have to give. It’s about coming together to make our schools stronger for every child.

💙 How do YOU PTA?

As we've turned the page on the 2025-26 school year, one thing is clear: RCPS is making meaningful progress!

🏫 All of our schools are fully accredited.

📈 19 of 24 schools improved their School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF) scores.

✅ Chronic absenteeism has been reduced nearly 30% since 2022-23.

🎓 The on-time graduation rate increased to 85.7%.

🏅 Six schools earned recognition among Region 6's top-performing and fastest-improving schools: Congratulations to Highland Park, Crystal Spring, Wasena, RAMS, John P. Fishwick, and Patrick Henry.

We know there is still work to do, but behind every number is the hard work of our students, families, teachers, support staff, administrators, and community partners. Thank you for helping move Roanoke City Public Schools in the right direction and creating more opportunities for student success every day!
