Hello Friends

Because of the Pandemic COVID 19, WUCA voted on yesterday to cancel the Annual Fashion Show that was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 22nd, 2019. and reschedule it for Sunday, March 21, 2021. If you purchased a ticket you will be refunded the amount that you are due back. The money will be refunded to u by the member of WUCA that you brought the ticket from. The group also decided to honor the groups that had been selected to be honored this year. the
following groups will receive monetary awards. Renaissance Academy. $800, NAACP ACTSO Youth group $500, Apple Ridge Farms $350 and Sabrina’s Place $350. We thank all who continuously purchase tickets, sponsorships and are vendors and lend their support in other way. We thank Garland Gravely for his dedicated leadership as our Fashion Coordinator and also his assistant Jo. Please continue to support us in the Spring of 2021. God is great

The members of Women United send our deepest sympathy to the family of our deceased member Saundra Butcher who passed on Monday 3/09/20. May GOD give her rest and bless the family. We will continue to keep them lifted in prayer! RIP Saundra, you will be so missed.

Fashion Show “A Star Studded Affair” on March 22nd, 2020 at Holiday Inn Valleyview, The show starts at 2 pm and is sponsored by The Women’s United For Community Action Group.

Women United For Community Action carried out its tradition of giving turkeys to organizations that care for those in need. This year we visited Virginia’s Assisted Living and Christ Soldiers. We also blessed a needy family with 9 children with a fully cooked Thanksgiving meal prepared and delivered by LaCove Restaurant compliments of WUCA and also gave the family a gift certificate. A few pictures of past visits are also included. Happy Thanksgiving

It is The Women Community for Action custom at Thanksgiving to provide Turkeys to several agencies and a Nursing home. This year we choose to give to the Women’s Transitional Living Center on Patterson, the Rams House, The Roanoke Rescue Mission and Virginia Assisted Living on Moorman Road. God is so good! Everyone was so appreciative. A family also received a Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings prepared by LaCove Restaurant. Gloria Randolph King is our chairperson and Althea Polk helps with organizer the day.
