Western Virginia EMS Council in collaboration with the Danville Area Training Center will offer 2 opportunities for specialized pediatric training:
π§Έ Pediatric Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (P-TECC)
When children are injured during high-threat incidents, mass casualty events, disasters, or acts of violence, their assessment and treatment require a specialized approach. Pediatric Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (P-TECC) provides EMS providers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, tactical medics, and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage critically injured pediatric patients in austere, dynamic, and potentially unsafe environments.
This course combines evidence-based pediatric emergency care principles with Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) guidelines to address the unique anatomical, physiological, and psychological considerations of pediatric patients. Participants will learn how to rapidly identify life-threatening injuries, control hemorrhage, manage airway and breathing emergencies, treat shock, and safely evacuate pediatric casualties while operating within a tactical or high-threat environment.
