As of July 19, 2022, it is REQUIRED for any person to wear a hard hat at ALL IATSE Local 55 staffed events when anyone is in the air. This includes but is not limited to the Berglund Center, Salem Civic Center, and Moss Arts Center. If you are a card holder, please purchase your own so that we can save our stock for overhire. Be sure to get a hard hat that is ANSI rated.

ANSI Z89.1.29 CFR 1910.135(a)(1) states, "Each affected employee shall wear protective helmets when working in areas where there is a potential for injury to the head from falling objects."

ANSI Z89.1.29 CFR 1901.135(a)(2) requires that workers who perform tasks close to exposed electrical conductors should wear hard hats engineered to shield against shocks.

For Example: Petzl has a very good VERTEX hard hat that is pretty standared across our industry. Be sure to get a non-ventalated one OR one with vents to close in order to be in compliance when riggers or other workers are in the air.

Snippets from August 11 - our first tour show in 18 months! It sure feels good to be back. We were so excited to work with the fantastic crew for James Taylor and Jackson Brown at our home venue, the Collisium at the Berglund Center. We had a more than 90% vaccination rate and KN95/N95 masks were worn at all times.
